Bruce
One of the best ways to get more from Linux right from the start is to head on down to a good book store aka Barnes and Noble and have a look at the available Magazines. The Barnes and Noble I frequent stocks about 8 different Linux magazines of all kinds, from beginner information including installation disks, with tutorials on getting it up and running, to writing your own scripts, and working with daily applications. There are also all kinds of books and manuals to help get you going that all include installation disks. The internet is a great place for information, but there is just something about printed materials that I prefer.
