I welcome any advice or critisism that will be helpful to this older system.

Nice rig P4. Seems you're getting alot out of what you got there. Nice overclock as well.

Lusafis, one of the reasons his score is higher is due to his overclock:

Nominal Clock Speed 3000 MHz.......................Nominal Clock Speed 3000 MHz

Measured Clock Speed 3733 MHz....................Measured Clock Speed 3000 MHz

............Speed Rating 7268......................................Speed Rating 6164 .............

Another is due to his hard drive, he has a raptor:.....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822144160

Uncached speed 65 MB/s............................Uncached speed 51 MB/s

And lastly he has a Nvidia graphics card, scores better on the pit than ATI:

Performance 349.28 MP/s............................ Performance 124.37 MP/s

But, you can increase your video score by using the highest resolution your monitor can handle, with 16 bit color.

http://www.pcpitstop.com/techexpress.asp?id=0LPHPWC8GZJS1TFQ dont see how you get a far higher score then me...... any thing i need to turn off? becuase i know for sure i got my HT on my pentium 4 on right now and if i turn that off will my score go up to be like yours

Sorry it took so long to reply, internet connection has been on the fritz.Anyway yes turn off HT.

I always turn if HT before testing in the pit , it makes about a 2oo pt. diff. Also i would shutdown some of those numerous programs you have running in the background ,that should help your processor and memory score .

No, not necessarily. It depends on whether he has a northwood or prescott core. Looking at his score he may have a prescott.

Have a look,

My bad on the HT Lusafis,I was going by the info in this sticky http://pcpitstop.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=112901, Thank you pentium extreme for clarifying the difference in the cores , maybe that sticky should be edited for noobs like me :surrender:

As for your question about background programs i would close:

C:\WINDOWS\ALCWZRD.EXE

C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PDVDServ.exe PowerDVD

C:\Program Files\Digital Media Reader\shwiconem.exe Card Reader

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe Sun Java Update

C:\WINDOWS\SOUNDMAN.EXE Realtek Sound Manager

C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr.exe Media Center Remote
