It's a good card, although your score seems a little slower then the rest of the 7800gs's i've seen around.

Ummm yeah...since my system is a STOCK AMD ATHLON 3000+ Barton , 200mhz fsb :) band it's agp...NOT PCI- E...the other rigs you see are iether 64bit or dual core ;)

This processor is 5 years old :)

Hi Ik33d

:wp:

I'm not trying to be rude but, I think that "strukt" understands the limits of your PC, and was only commenting on the 2D speed of your new card! The 7800gs's are the only agp cards! We do know that they are not as fast as the PCI-E cards

Most likely, the other 7800gs scores were higher because they had tested in 16 bit color, and there highest res.

You do have a very good agp card!!!

yeah thats correct ....... most of the scores here are tweaked to one degree or another ( some both )

but thats a nice upgrade ........... i'm sure it games well

AGP has nothing to do with it. Your card's performance is under par compared to alot of other nVidia cards. I got close too 500 video score with my 6800gs, and yours shouldn't be ~270.

Yea, thats true... but on his test it says "Colors 65,636", isn't that 16 bit?

Yep, your right strukt! I always test in 32 bit color to get a true reading of how I'm running in everyday use!

OK, so how do I get a better score?? What should i run my tests at?? On 3dmarks I'm right where I should be.

I wasn't trying to be rude either, sorry if i came off that way. Lack of voice inflection does that :)

If you think my scores are off, point me in the right direction.

I reformated my system today...i'll finishing tweaking it out tommorow :)

Just for the record... I'm 36 for another couple of weeks, I was playing fps's when 14.4 was 1337 and Duke Nukem, ruled :geezer:

Ok, was your pit test taken with your resolution raised as high as it will go? (ie. 1280 by 1024)

If it wasn't at that res. try the pit test again, but at a higher res. and 16 bit! Latest drivers also!

Strukt, I'll try to do it much later tonight( 3DM 05), but if you look at my 3dm 03 score with similar chipsets and cpu's, you'll see that I'm right where I should be :)

dwfinch, highest res and 16 bit.......

Well, thanks for stating the obvious Ik33d!!! :thud:

I'm pretty sure that most people here already know about the difference between the GS, GT, and GTX nVidia cards! But thanks for your help! :snooze:

It sounds to me like you don't need anyone's help with tweaking your system!

Stukt,

Thats what I thought. 3dmarks should be close...your memory speeds are much faster...and I'm sure that there will be differences with the chipsets and cpu's ect ;)

DW Finch, dude............ ease up a little. I came here to pick your minds... any help is appreciated
