Looking for a quiet mouse.

Recommended Posts

Alright, I have a tendancy for staying up late to work on my computer, I wake up early too. Unfortunatly I have roommates and one of them said my mouse is WAY too loud and she can't sleep. So I started to look into getting a new mouse.

I am currently am using the mouse that came with my Sony Vaio, it has three buttons and a wheel. I'm looking for something similar, but I don't mind if it is an optical or a trackball.

Something like this is fine, although I'm unsure on how loud it is:

But I would like to know if there were any recommendations for a good, quiet mouse.

dont mean to be rude... get a cat :D lol!!

right my fun over with, your best bet, is to take a trip down to a local computer store, and try out some of the mice. that way you can see if they have a quiet click, or quiet movement, also use a soft mousepad to dampen the movement of the mouse... might save you alot of money ;)

The Microsoft Mice generally have silent scroll. But while it's stylish, I find it really annoying. You can't tell if you've scrolled '1 click' or '3 clicks' of the wheel.

Seriously, if you're roommate complains about tiny noise like mouse clicks...

Buy em a pair of $2 ear plugs.

If you use a laptop, just use the touchpad, and tap it to click. Maybe they make an external touchpad? *googles it*

Well, they at least include an external touchpad/keyboard combo...

Not sure if that helps.

I'd have thought the computer itself would have been louder than the mouse!

Or even the keyboard?!?

Thank you for the replies. ^^ I'll look over those Microsoft mice at the store.

The computer itself is fairly quiet, you just hear it when you turn it on and off.

I just wanted to check things out in case she complains again.

(She's a hypocrite, but I'd rather have an eye on a certain mouse in case she talks to the RA. >_<)

@dark My rat would scream if I get a cat. :P

Thank you again! ^_^

I agree with the touchpad idea...just tap the touchpad to click, not the button. That's not loud...does that work for you?

Talk to an RA over something so menial? That's insane!

I agree with the touchpad idea. They would probably be the quietest solution available.
