I am not so sure dvdshrink will do this a with a recording with Microsofts DRM wrapper on it.

I may be wrong but I believe dvdshrink is only for shrinking dvd's, not files created with MS DRM wrappers.

Do you need DRM on your own files? I've been experimenting with Windows Movie Maker all this time and I haven't had any problems with DRM or anything...

If I can remember, an MPEG-1 file written for video CD format would take up to 30.1 MB for 3 minutes of video (approx. size may vary, figure based on 352 x 240 frame size @ 29.97 FPS).

Now, if you were to bring it into Movie Maker and compress it to a bitrate of 512 Kbps (my preference, BTW), you might get to save up to 18.33 MB!

Of course you can try lower bitrates but those make your video look like crap...

Do you need DRM? For god sakes NO. That doesn't stop Microsoft from putting it on everything Media Center does. ;)

However recordings done on Media Center Edition slaps DRM on just about everything it does, especially recordings.
