internet connectivity issues

Recommended Posts

Hi chaps i have an annoying problem, went to work this morning leaving a file downloading using azureus, came home and found my download stopped, disconnected from irc and msn. These will all restart if i turn my router off then on again.

Windows xp pro sp2, opera, mirc with acidmax and azureus.

Router is a linksys befdsr41s (have also tried with a spare us robotics router(same problems))

My isp is pipex and they have said they can see my connection drops, bt have done line tests and can find nothing wrong. The only thing ive noticed is the downstairs bt box was missing a screw and the other was loose so i removed the cover all together and plugged the filter directly into the testing socket in behind.

All filters have been changed the only thing i havent changed is the cable from the modem/router to the phone socket.

That about covers hope someone has some ideas coz im now at a loss.

Test Results

What ports are you using for Azureus? I had the same issue and needed to change the ports.

I am having a similiar problem. I use Win XP pro sp2 with Firefox and a D-Link DI-604 Router. I have DSL, and I lose my connection probably 4 or 5 times a day. This usually lasts about 3-5 minutes each drop, and I get my connection back. I have tried rebooting router, modem, and PC. My ISP says they are not showing any dropped connections. I ran the iCheckConnection utility when I lost the connection and this is what it is showing;

DNS is working

Ping www.amazon.com (255.255.255.255) 32 bytes * * * * *

Unknown host www.amazon.com

Cannot open http://www.amazon.com

Ping www.yahoo.com (255.255.255.255) 32 bytes * * * * *

Unknown host www.yahoo.com

why these strange IP numbers? Any suggestions on what to do?

I also have the disconnect reconnect problem with my G604T modem router. it starts after 12 hours or more and will only correct when turning off the power to the modem router then turning it back on. I notice on my emule client that upon testing the ports in the emule client when the disconnect problem is occurring, the tcp ports test ok but UDP fails. I have tried repairing the lan connection, makes no difference. I have tried reseting the pc, it allows the udp port to test ok just till the next disconnect which takes only a few minutes to occur. I have sent my emule log to D-link tech help, they say they have never seen that problem and don't know what it is. I am using lan cable not wireless....

Darned If I know... Cheers Neil

G'day, this is the reply from D-link australia, and may only apply to australian routers.

remember that hard reset means the pen in the reset button for about thirty seconds, after the upgrade.

Please try reloading or updating the firmware for both units from the links below.

http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/drivers/files...ers/dsl604+.htm

Please do a hard reset on the units after firmware upgrade were successful and reconfigure them.

Additionally, for the DSL-604+ you may also disable the proxy DNS which I attached below how to.

Hope it helps,

Kind Regards,

Edwin
