hey, I've had my laptop for about 2 months (windows 8.1) now and I keep having this random freezing problem where the laptop won't function at all, but the last sound will loop (a milisecond loop so it sounds like a scream... if there is no sound nothing will loop). i've been going into the event viewer and have been noticing some errors, mistakes, warning, etc. here are some...more detailed can be provided if asked. Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490 The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report. processor0,1,2,3 all have these errors Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0 The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. When i bought it new, it hanged up once before i downloaded any real software, so i updated my drivers and such and it started becoming less intermittent, so then i updated my bios (came from asus) and it stopped for a while - however within the past 7 days i had 4 restarts because of this (3 in one day) edit: i have read other posts on here - none of themcan really apply because i don't have those drivers or those anti-virus software installed
Please can someone suggest a suitable card for this motherboard? I'm currently wired, but it's causing problems in the house with other devices, so we want the router to be more central. I'm scared to ask this, but is it a case of if it fits the PCI/PCIe slot it will work........? Anything I should avoid? Would something like this do? Or this..? A budget device should be sufficient for now, as finances are... well... they could be better.. We're thinking of going to BT total broadband soon if that matters at all (currently with Tiscali-spit-now-talk-spit-talk) Thanks for advice. Normally I'd spend hours researching and looking into something like this, but am embroiled with more important facts and figures at the moment..
