  1. I've been able to find the file by following the string. I can delete it, but it keeps coming back. Each time it has a new number in front of the '.cvr' Still haven't been able to find a fix.
  2. I'm assuming the second shot shows the partial string where it should be located, but how do I get it to show the entire string?
  3. I spoke too soon, the original problem is back. Here's a couple of screenies. Including what I've posted I have tried: Ccleaner Windows Clean-up Optimize Scanned for temp files Guess I still need some help
  4. The install went smooth and the only thing that appears I've lost is the problem I initially set out to repair. I'm now one happy camper
  5. I used the automatic 'Fix It' and it was successful in removing MS Office. I have it reinstalling now. What a headache I created
  6. I found that earlier but it's no longer supported. While the Windows Installer Cleanup utility resolved some installation problems, it sometimes damaged other components installed on the computer. Because of this, the tool has been removed from the Microsoft Download Center. From here, which shows another alternative which I'll give a try in a bit. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
  7. Through Add Remove programs it wont go. I keep getting this: This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it. Also each time I start my browser The Windows Installer keeps popping up. Really scratching my head now....guess that's what I get for putting it back on through system restore. Any ideas other than just deleting the folder from the C: drive:
  8. Thanks Andrew, the one thing that concerned me would be the loss of all my newer emails. I have a back up of most of them though, so I'll give it a go.
  9. I've already hit my head on the desk multiple times for this one, so no need to beat me up any further..... Long story short, I had an issue with MS Word that I was having a problem resolving so I figured do an uninstall and just reinstall it.....STUPID.....Outlook is included with Office! I thought my best bet at that point was to use a restore point, which I did and all went well exept....no Outlook...the rest is all there. Word, Excel, Power Point, all there. I tried installing from the disk but the contents of the disk pop up instead of the install procedure. I'm not getting an auto start, which I've tried to force. When I click on the setup exe. It starts preparing for install, but then a Windows Installer note pops up saying: This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it. What now? Am I going to have to uninstall the entire Office program and then reinstall from the disk? OK, let me have it. I deserve all that coming on this one.
  10. It will appear nothing happens, but once you press the Print Screen, you need to open MS Paint as Tx stated and paste it there.

  12. From this page http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/compare/starter.aspx When I start from 7-starter and dial it down to Irfanview it shows Win 7 but it doesn't state that it's Starter at that point.
  13. Check here to see if it's listed: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx
  14. I wish you would have posted this several years ago, it's now too late for me but you may have saved a few. I'll be visiting the golf course tomorrow!
  15. The fragmentation is probably in your restore points. You can turn off system restore, defrag, turn system restore back on and set a new restore point then run the test again.

  19. Try a third party defrag progam. Both of these are freeware. You might also want to boot into safe mode before running any defrag program. http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag http://www.iobit.com/iobitsmartdefrag.html
