  1. Worked great! Thank you very much for your help, I was able to scan immediately after the program uninstalled the ActiveX and then reinstalled. Must have just been a buggy install. Thanks again!
  2. ActiveX is working, i saw the current date and time. Not at first, IE made me install something for pcpitstop. After that installed and the test work i tried OverDrive again and no luck. EDIT: also, not sure if this will help diagnose or not but here is where the test gets stuck and also an image of what its doing. Additional info - i have let it sit at this screen with no other windows/programs open for around 15-20 minutes before giving up on it to make sure that it not just running slow. http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/ajaxscan/
  3. Hello, i am attempting to run OverDrive but it seems to keep stalling at the first part of the scan/test before it even runs any tests. Just the screen where it shows me what step it is on. I am using Internet Explorer for that, as neptune is no longer recommended. My current IE version is 9, the latest version supported for my OS (vista), I have run the 64 bit version of IE and the normal version both in admin mode. At this point I am stuck on what to try. Thank you in advance for your help.
  4. Ok so i read over all your advice and have been getting on my computer for a few days to make sure nothing is still wrong and its looking great. At first it seemed to be running really slow and applications freezing alot but it turned out that was because i had so many microsoft updates to install so i held off on doing anything intensive until i had the majority of updates installed. Thanks again for your help. You were amazingly helpful and its much appreciated!
  5. Computer is going great, restore went very smooth, updated windows and redownloaded my anti-virus. Reinstalled my wireless cards driver and my video card driver. So far looking good.
  6. I'm going to go ahead and just restore my computer to factory settings. It seems that is the best option at this point. I apologize if i'm "jumping the gun" on you and messing with how you go about things, i really appreciated all of the help you have given me, i am extremely grateful. This just seems the best choice at this point and the most effiecient way to get rid of whatever it is that is crippling my computer. Once i am done i will be sure to post on how i faired, and how my computer is doing.
  7. I am actually unable to post the sfc logfile. everytime i try to copy/paste it into here safari/chrome crashes due to the huge size of the file. It is also above the limit on the file attachment for here. The norton removal tool removed norton successfully and my computer didn't auto restart so i ran ccleaner and restarted anyways.
  8. Computer is ok so far. Last night i believe it did freeze again but i can't remember. Usually why i try to edit the post to say it froze right after the fact lol. Anyways, i ran the sfc scan again and it said it found errors i actually managed to find the sfc log, (CBS.log, it was a .txt but i think it was the same thing. There was also a CBS.persist.txt file in there do you need that too?) Uninstalled ComboFix ok, unfortunately it didn't fix the skype/mozilla/ie/etc issues (not sure if that was the issues you were talking about) I do believe the no restore point showing up in the DD

  11. My computer is running ok so far, but i just booted it up from getting home. As for the problem with mozilla, i can only get one letter in the address bar before it freezes. and for ie, same issue, all the webpages i visit are blank/frozen. Regarding the sfc, it actually did tell me it found some errors that it was unable to fix. 12. well, the system file checker went smoothly and so did the reset of both web browsers. But the problem is still persisting with the web browsers. I figured i would get you some screenshots of what is exactly going on as that might provide a better explanation of what is happening than me trying to explain it. sfc also said there was a log file but i closed the command prompt thinking "psh yeah i'll remember where to check for it" and then i went on to attempt to fix ie and firefox and well now i forgot. Internet Explorer: shows internet explorer showing a frozen image of this page
  13. The startup repair went ok, it said that nothing was wrong and startup repair was running fine so it stopped there. TFC went fine also it cleaned all the temp files, i believe the size it cleaned was around 75 mb not completely sure. I was unable to run Panda's Active scan because Internet Explorer is doing the same thing as firefox and just giving me a clear frozen screen. Other then that everything is going ok so far, no freezes yet. But my Ralink Wireless manager doesn't startup when i turn my computer on anymore along with my Catalyst Control Center wich in msconfig it shows them as run on
  14. I went ahead and redownloaded firefox to make sure that wasn't the issue and no such luck the problem is still persisting.
  15. I've actually already upgraded firefox to 10.0.2 and the problem is still occurring. as for the log C:ComboFix2.txt, no such file is found. another (not neccessarily issue just odd) thing found is that my windows Scheme/Style/etc. seems to have changed from what i previously had setup to what is called "Windows vista Basic" and i can't find the old style that i was using. (not a major issue at all just something odd i noticed.)
