  1. Bruce -if it is any help, I started using Champix tablets at the start of the year and stopped smoking on the 14th January and have been smoke free since. The course of tablets my GP gave me lasted for just under 5 months and I haven't looked back since. They are not nicotine replacement tablets they kill the urge for smoking altogether over the first 2 weeks and then suppress it after that for as long as it takes. By the way at the end of the two weeks you will not like the taste of cigarettes or even the smell of them. I wish you and your good lady all success in this. beau

  4. Well I was born a christian and I suppose I'll die one as well. However, I can't say I believe in God as such - I'm not that brave - and I'm also pretty much a thinking man's person. I do believe there is something greater than us - but I'm not brave enough to call that thing God - or Jesus - or any other such name. I only believe. I pray to my higher being when times get tough; it doesn't take any of those fancy sermons or speeches - or even any of those real nice hymns, psalms catechments or whatever - but I like the sounds they make. My God (higher being) is mine - and mine alone. it knows what I think, it listens when I rant or even when I say a real meaningful thanks to it for getting me through each day, surmounting another problem or even enjoying the enjoyment of life itself. My God is a personal one and a private one, I don't attempt to force it on anyone else because - well - it's mine. It knows me, and my strengths and weaknesses - and never answers me back in a petulent or derogatory manner. I do that instead. Where am I going to go then when I die? I don't know. Perhaps its going to be a real roller coaster of an existance of some kind - or then again perhaps it aint. All I will know is this, I will die with many happy and fond memories of my time on this earth, some bad ones as well. But also, I will know this, I have loved and been loved in turn by many wonderful people, I have done favours for and had them done for me in return by others, I have always tried to be as honest as the day is long and never ever tried to be a nasty ill-begotten SOB - to anyone - even those who have been so to myself. Life is for living, it shouldn't be for worrying about where you go once you die - that's the next secret of this thing we call life. All the best to you all. beau

  6. Not sure if this will help or not but quite often what people mistakenly think is the fan belt slipping and making that screeching noise is something altogether different. I used to have this problem with my car and it was the water pump that was the problem. There is an easy solution to this and it consists of buying, borrowing or begging an eggcupful (approximate amount) of soluble oil from a local engineering works or someone who owns a metalworking lathe or milling machine (they dilute this with water to use as a coolant when machining the metal). Add the soluble oil to your radiator top up tank and - if this is the problem - it will only take as long as it needs for the oil to reach the water pump to fix it. If that isn't the problem, then it won't do any harm to your engine with the soluble oil in the water system. good luck. beau

  15. That's a good enough reference for me Bruce - I'll just go buy one of the books with the disk included for another version of Linux. Any one package you would recommend for someone as green as I am so that I can still be in control of my system? beau
  16. Well like uhmm, I've been thinking about Linux for a while now but still a bit too chicken to take the plunge . However, came on this tonight http://info.linspire.com/freespire/index.html and thought that seems quite good plus, you can burn the download to disk and use it as a 'live' cd rather than partitioning your drive. Then I checked the download time 29 hours plus!!! DSL or cable is a bit faster at 191 minutes and T1 or LAN is better at 71 minutes. Ah well, for those of you interested in a free copy the link is there. For me? I think I will just go out and buy a copy! beau
  17. Angela, there is the other side to this point you make though. From what I understand, the prosecuter is not allowed to bring into court any previous misdemeanours or crimes committed by the accused - even if they are already public knowledge. In reality, that means someone who - as in this instance - is accused of rape, may have already committed a rape before. But in pursuit of fair judgement, this cannot be disclosed. In reality, there is justice and injustice for both sides in trying to make it as fair as possible. That even playing field just gets rougher and rougher beau.
  18. Hehhhh, and you think Brits have wierd tastes? http://kookychow.com/kookychow/04/page/piglips.htm I watched a guy on TV the other night, trying to eat some of these as a dare and he was violenlty ill just seconds after putting them in his mouth. If not eating these means I'm a woosie Bruce - then your right!
