Also I have my current spec below: I can currently only run games on Low-Medium spec is there no doubt I will be able to run game on highest spec with this system ? Else I will think about a PS3.....although Ill miss all the fun of building it myself !!
  3. Thanks for taking the time to respond, however i do not understand what you said....... I am assume that if I use SLi or XFire the board is good enough ????
  4. The idea is a pure games machine as I already have a home pc for daily use....I would like to play games like: Elder Scrolls IV and V when it comes out ! Fall Out 3 with high graphics settings (my current pc I can only play games low spec) I do not intend to over clock, however I wanted to use the existing power supply as its very quiet and the computer is in the front room and if the noise interferes with the wifes soaps the gaming is a non starter!!! (we all have to compromise sometimes!) Any suggestions would be great Thanks
  5. Hi - I have tried to get the UK equivalent from the link to the above thread, however I want to limit the costs and therefore will be using my existing PSU (QTech Ultra Quiet 300W) and would like to change some of the below components to get under £400. Can you help me on: 1) what will using 300W PSU instead of a 650W as recommended do ? 2) I am using a Philips 170C4 Display, any thoughts ? 3) All the below are from Dabs.com can any one recommend a alternative ? 6. Hi, I have built computers in the past for home use by buying cheap components and plug them all together load windows tinker with the drivers and voila! However, I would now like to build a low end games machine and would like to know whether I should be looking for any specific differences than for a basic home computer. I will obviously try and buy the most expensive graphics card and processor and install as much memory as I can afford, but does the mother card and hard drive make THAT much difference ?? Can someone provide a break down of % weighting against components i.e. 30% on processor 20% on graphics card etc etc... Also, what should I look at for compatibility issues between components to gain max performance and here's the challenge I would like to do this for under £400 excluding screen. OR should I buy a DELL !!! Thanks
  7. After hours of searching on net and various fixes all that was really needed is to right-click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT in regedit, and add my user name in Special permissions.
  8. I assume so as I am the only user, but how do I tell ?
  9. Hi, I can not load Windows Installer 3.1 ! It tells me I do not have sufficient privalages and then removes all installed files and reboots. Automatic Windows has been trying to install since June iwth no luck ! Can anyone help ? :help: :help:
  10. Hi, I have been thinking about building my own PVR instead of buying one from my local CURRY'S or DIXONS but after using DABS or ECLIPSE web sites to pick basic components (cheapest AMD processors etc) I can not make a system for less than £230. A cheap DVD Recorder is about £220 with 160MB HDD!! Has anyone else managed to build their own system for less ? Without re-using old components, or are the days of cheap self builds truely behind us ??? Cormorin
  11. Yes but the memory sticks are not identical. I have tried overclocking my system but when I get to FSB 146 my onboard sound card does not load in windows....any ideas ?
  12. Hi, I am curious... I have two 512Kb memory sticks on my MSI 865PE Neo-L motherboard both PC3200 but operating single channel at 200Mhz. However, I throught PC3200 works at 400Mhz...ot this correct, how do I increase the speed ? Thanks
