  1. Dont see any option for 2.4 ghz or 5 ghz in my routers settings. would it be called something else?
  2. The 8 port switch is gigabit, also using jumbo frames. All my nic cards are gigabit, the switch and router( besides wireless router) is gigabit, also using cat 6 cable. I guess Im just wondering why i even upgraded to N. I was xfering 2 MB/sec over standard G before this. I got no speed increase at all. Im pretty sure its all just settings though. I cant figure out why my laptop wont connect to a N only mode on my router. Im pretty sure the wireless in my laptop is N. It's an Asus g50VT has the 5100 agn Wifi link in it. thanks
  3. Oh okay, I only xfer files to my pc at about 2 MB/sec over wifi. Maybe i should describe my setup. I have the dgl-4100 gaming router hooked to a gigabit 8 port switch, which my desktop and my wireless router connect to. The hard drivers in both my pcs are pretty decent, i get about 55 MB/sec over wired. Just seems like a big difference because the wireless N is suppose to be 300 mbps. Thats 1000mbps = avg. 55 MB/sec, so 300 mbps should = 16.5 MB/sec or somewhere about that. Thanks
  4. Hello, im using an intel 5100 agn wireless card in my notebook and a trendnet tew-652brp wireless router. When i set the router to only use N my notebook wont connect, but when i select a/b/g/n mixed mode it will connect at 54 mbps. Was looking for more speed, any advice? My nic device drivers are up to date, and my router has the latest firmware. They are approx. 15 feet from each other. thank you
  5. Sounds good, as my wife only allows a new pc every 4-5 years . I plan on giving everything else to my kids for school. I guess i should CF the 4850's because they are cheap and I'll be building an entire new rig in a couple years. Hopefully this one will make it till then. Then comes the Question, is 600w enough for 2 4850's? I really dont want to replace the PSU untill it dies. thanks again for all the helpful advice
  6. Id say prolly no more than 150$ for each card. I guess my question is, should i go crossfire x8 or pci-e 2.0 16x.
  7. I did some thinking, maybe spending all that kind of money is dumb right now as in 4 years there will be cards way better than 4870x2's and i just need 2x cfx8 vid cards What are very cheap ones that will be better than my evga geforce 8800gts 320mb. I saw these SAPPHIRE 100236L Radeon HD 3650 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card. But I havent bought a video card in ages. I definatly dont want something utter crappy but not top of the line. Just for this decade of games. that I wont need to change power supplies
  8. One last question. Im actually looking for the right size power supply for the pc mine eventually will be. Right now its: Cooler Master HAF 932 Case Cooler Master 600w PSU Gigabyte M61PME-S2 Phenom 9750 125w Cooler Master v8 Heatsink 4 GB G.Skill Ram (800mhz) 320gb Hitachi 7200rpm 16MB Cache 3gb/s HDD 250gb Samsung 7200rpm 8MB Cache 3gb/s HDD LG Lightscribe DVD-RW Standard CD-RW EVGA Geforce 8800gts (320mb) SYBA 7.1 channel Sound Card D-Link Gigabit Network Card As Listed before. I just ordered the Biostar tforce a790gx mobo. Ill be switching to 1066 mhz ram(start off with 4 eventually 16gb) when I get it installed. And will be running 2 Asus 4870x2's in crossfire, Maybe throw in a Blu-ray burner later. Will 850w still be enough?
  9. Cheaper to, that will work. thanks alot! But for now 600 should be ok?
  10. Yes have a 600w right now. will be updating the video card to a Radeon 4870 x2. Just worried because I just got the Phenom 9750 and the v8. They are 125w and 180w respectfully. May wait to OC when i grab the toughpower 750w unless you have a better recommendation.
  11. I was wondering what size psu you would recommend for my pc. Cooler Master HAF 932 Case Cooler Master 600w PSU Gigabyte M61PME-S2 Phenom 9750 125w Cooler Master v8 Heatsink 4 GB G.Skill Ram (800mhz) 320gb Hitachi 7200rpm 16MB Cache 3gb/s HDD 250gb Samsung 7200rpm 8MB Cache 3gb/s HDD LG Lightscribe DVD-RW EVGA Geforce 8800gts (320mb) SYBA 7.1 channel Sound Card D-Link Gigabit Network Card Thanks alot.
