  1. I thank you once again for all of your help. I will await your response. I may have to go out of town for 2 days tomorrow. If so, it may be 2 days until I could reply, respond or do anything else you suggest. If not, I will do them right away and respond immediately (as soon as I do the instructions). Ron
  2. IE 8 reset did not fix ... but now some things work that did not before. Still an abundance of error messages ... and odd behavior. Other thread has only told me to do that (reset IE 8) to date. I told him as well, to no avail as of yet. Windows resource protection did not find an integrity violations. Here is the MBR check file: MBRCheck, version 1.2.3 © 2010, AD Command-line: Windows Version: Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Windows Information: (build 7600), 64-bit Base Board Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard BIOS Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard System Manufac
  3. OS was already on machine when bought (was bought at store "Best Buy"). Problem was occurring BEFORE Hosts file applic (but I indeed did do the "Hosts" instructions). I did the backup in your second to last step ... but again, I have no Windows 7 disc, so I am at a loss as to what to do next? I also got some advice from the other forum area as you advised. They said to run this --- regsvr32 urlmon.dll, which did not do anything ... and they said if it does not (common that it may not), to do this --- Open Internet Explorer Go to Tools / Internet Options Click on the Progr
  4. HI ... I had gotten the MAIL update and no responses for a day or so to my post in that other forum area (mail issues, etc) ... so I installed the update (especially since it said it was an important one) ... and it seemingly fixed the email issue. HOWEVER, I am still unable to click on a link within any website without a 404 error, which upon reading, sounds like some sort of registry error? I tried to use ERUNT's registry optimizer and it said there was an error on every HIVE, so it seemed to do nothing ... and I also still have the problem. You said NOT to use Advanced System Care ...
  5. Thanks for all ... and I am going to do all of the advice. If I may ask, can I try to install Live Mail over the top of the present application? I understand there may be a newer version. I really NEED to hold on to those emails. OR IF NOT ... should I ask the advice of that link before uninstalling / reinstalling, etc? Thanks, Ron
  6. PS - When move cursor over content of message(s), the hourglass appears - as if the content is attempting to download or process. I sent a mail to my fiance' and she got it correctly, but when trying to forward her some of my other messages (to read them - they are Business-related and real important/time pertinent), she DID NOT get them ... just the message itself and the subject line ... no content. Need this functional as soon as possible. I know you said you were not a mail expert per se, but perhaps the cursor deal tips you off with what is going on. I have business decisions that need ma
  7. Hi - Kaspersky found ZERO threats, 0 infected files or suspicious anything. Atual report was lost because fiance' checked early this AM by viewing report and then, when attempting to go back, it disappeared and went back into it's restart process (of updating definitions toward possible scan). She did not realize it was online only, because I was doing it last night when she was asleep (she thought it would have already saved copy of report somewhere). Anyway, she is very sharp and competent with such matters and GUARANTEED me it was such. It also was through many percent last night when I las
  8. All email messages in Windows Live Mail have no content (subjects ... and are still there ... but all of the content is either gone or not visible). Boy that would be an absolute killer if I lost all of my emails. There are hundreds ... and with tons of important stuff within them ... related to business and more.
  9. OK we guess - of course have not used since all of this. Here are the 2 files, I will use the computer some more in the interim, and you can examine the files at the same time. Then ask me again at that time ... if that is ok? One thing ... we still cannot seem to be able to visit certain websites, do not know if they are restricted in some manner, but we on occasion have used/viewed things that would be considered such by some ... not mindless perves who moronically search through garbage sites and expect not to get trouble doing so, but again, more so 'occasional sites' that we have viewed c

  12. Computer is performing ok I suppose. I have not been able to access certain websites, but now also have a sudden absence of error messages within IE8. Not getting "IE has encountered error and going to shut down". Also, deleted Advanced System Care 3 through Control Panel uninstall. Frostwire have not used in months and rare anyway - have no sharing capabilties. (I only tried it because MSN and Napster literally screwed me out of hundreds of dollars after saying they would reimburse me after I PROVED my legitimacy to them ... I had ALWAYS bought my music and NEVER downloaded any for free).
  13. My fiance' and I have tried everything and have never before not been able to fix something. We have Avast free and it shows nothing, and have used Lavasoft's latest Adware and Spybot's latest S & D and also Advanced System Care among a couple others ... all to no avail. Using Windows 7 operating system and no issues for several months in use. Here is my hijackthis output: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 11:58:00 PM, on 10/17/2010 Platform: Unknown Windows (WinNT 6.01.3504) MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.7600.16671) Boot mode: Normal Runn
  14. We have used varying outlets in house and cables ... so feel eliminated those as "possibles". Cable company wants 3 more days until can diagnose. Signal loss issue that can be boosted? ... or essentially "WHAT causes a cable modem to lose it's 'online' status"? Please help with possible solutions and thanks, Ron
