  1. Thank you for the response. Yes that link does instruct for what I am doing. HOWEVER, what I am saying is, it will not let me complete the command. WHen I press enter, it tells me that "dot3cfg.dll is not loading" So what I am asking is, how do I replace or obtain or fix the dll problem? Many thanks, FOTD
  2. I was trying to reset or refresh my ip by running a command Netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt This on a Win xp box. I get the following- dot3cfg.dll is not loading I would appreciate any help on how to remedy this please? Thanks, FOTD
  3. Juliet, On the Recovery Console, I have never heard of this. I see I must have the Win XP disk to do this? I bought this with Win installed. Is there any other way to have this if you don't have the disk? Thanks, FOTD
  4. I only ran the combo fix one time. As I indicated in my second post, I came back and saw the blue screen of death. I am unsure why it says 8 times. I believe I got this, when I was actually on a web page looking for a torrent for someone else. My computer has not shown any pop ups since I ran combo before and I would honestly say internet activity is running at 3-5 times the speed that it had been lately. FOTD
  5. Also Juliet I forgot to say one thing and add another- I walked away from my computer during the Combofix and when I came back I had the "blue screen of death". When I hard booted, the log then began to write. Secondly, I am seeing now, that my computer is running twice as fast as it has been (which is great). FOTD

  7. Hi I am getting Pop ups all of a sudden. I ran two different adware tools and here is my Hijack This. This happened to me last year around this time as well and you were a huge help. Also, at around the same time, whenever I reboot, my USB mouse does not come back on and I have to unplug it and replug it in and then it is good. Not sure if this is related or not but any input would be appreciated. One other thing that happened as this occurred. I keep getting messages from Windows Security saying my firewall is off or my auto update is off and Windows Security Manager is on in my s
  8. Hi Juliet. My daughter uses AIM so I figured I might as well leave Viewpoint on if it is going to be re-installed anyways. I deleted the two files with HJT. I am using Mozilla now. I will check out the other updates. I do have one other question. When I reboot, many times if not possibly all the time, I get a windows could not close this program properly and it says at the top of the window, "ShellConHiddenWindow". Can you tell me what that is about? Juliet, you have been an amazing help. Thank you so much!
  9. Good evening Juliet. Ok, I did everything in the last post. <Many files are found in Norton Quarantine, though they are encrypted every scan from another Virus scanner will show a log as found. You can remove those> I have nothing in my Quarantine. <C:\22BF.tmp C:\2C59.tmp> Neither of these were found <* When shown the disclaimer, Select "2"> I received no "disclaimer". It appeared to uninstall ComboFix As far as I know, I do not have any issues. IE now works and I have not had a single pop up or Trojan warning. <Post bac
  10. Juliet, Ok, I think I sent you the file earlier so I am sure you have that. The other items will follow. Just a couple of things- . When I ran CCleaner, it said I must close Firefox. FF was not open at the time When I got to the Start Desktop stuff- there were no items in there other than My Current Home Page When I got to the SuperAntiSpyware, there were NO ITEMS quarantined. Perhaps I did not quarantine them before. So I ran the scan again, and then quarantined them. There were a good amount of items. Below is everything I have not had a single pop up or warning this evening since

  12. Hi Juliet. Here is the latest. A couple of things- 1. After Combofix ran, it rebooted, then had a blue "Find3m" window,. It said "Preparing log Report"... It then said sed.cfexe has encountered a problem c\combofix\bak.dat The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another program. I don't know if thatcted the scan or not. I noticed earlier a few days ago, I have a note that I got a screen that said "'sed' is not recognized as an internalor external command, operable program,or batchfile. Access is denied. Also of note, my Symantec kept turning it self on d
  13. Ok, let me start with how the computer is running now. I still have the IE issue. I have not looked at the link for uninstalling ie 7 yet. I am emailing you now from AOL which uses IE as it;s browser. I am having no browser problems in AOL but every time I open the IE browser on my desktop, it closes. I am still getting tons of virus/malware warnings and pop ups. If I stay online, I will get 15-20 in an hour. Thank you!!!! Here are the scans- ComboFix- ComboFix 07-11-04.1 - Randy 2007-11-10 10:30:42.6 - NTFSx86 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 5.1.2600.2.1252.1.1033
  14. I also am now having an issue with IE. I dl Windows Update and it update IE to version 7. Now every single time I open IE off my desktop, it errors and asked if I want to send a message/eror report. Then it closes. It still opens all the adware browsers fine. FOTD
  15. Hi Juliet. When I try and run the Kaspersky Scan, I keep getting a 1. Failed to download Active X Control I must had admin right. Must have IE security set to medium. I do have the security at medium. ?? FOTD
