As far as I've read, you didn't really answer the question at all. The one sentence you wrote about it does not cover it very well. Perhaps you should try harder to answer such a simple question as it is your hobby.

Yes, my 4890 has one that is similar as well and it keeps the card even cooler than my old two-slot 3870 was.

We're more like a diagnosis service rather than simple regurgitation of definitions that are easily available on dictionary websites across the web.

Some questions that require no expertise are more adequately answered with a simple google search. Especially when the questions asked are already phrased so well for a google search.

Whatever you do, just don't get that one as it is plagued with problems. There are a variety of other 4870s around the same price as the one you previously wanted. I suggest browsing them and reading what people have to say about them. Try to look for problem reviews that repeat the same issues consecutively in order to avoid purchasing a bad one such as the one you mentioned earlier.

If you had read previous posts, you would see that this was already the outcome. He has seen what is wrong with his card and he chose to send it back.

Obviously you didn't read the thread because you'd see that the fan is stuck at 100% of its available speed at all times. Thus, your suggestions of using programs to increase the speed wouldn't work because the fan is ALWAYS at 100%. Do you understand now?
