Its not my PC so I don't know that much about it, it was reformatted no OS anymore. I just have a flash drive with a boot manager and windows installation on it but it will not read them. I think I might have to actually get a copy of an OS on disk.
-
Okay it IS recognizing the USB drive, it just keeps a _ _ _ going forever.

So I am helping out a friend that got attacked by a recent virus, and today I got there computer I went through tried to clean out all the issues, but the virus persisted so I decided to reformat it. I have a usb drive that has a boot manager on it but the system cannot detect it and open the boot manager any help? ~*~Warning ITs a E-Machine~*~

Here's a weird question. Would Linux pick up on the same error's as Windows would on a failing hard drive? And if it does pick on those errors, and is switched to but doesn't pick them up is it still the hard drive?
-
Okay, so am I screwed and it's the hard drive...or am I fine and its hopefully something else? Because that error stops the boot process completely.
-
Nah it was reset to factory settings. So when in ACHI mode...this error means nothing? PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable. PXE-M0F: Exiting broadcom PXE ROM No bootable device
