  1. I have vista ultimate on disk. For a monitor I'm using a 32" NEC multisync at 1366x768. I have my entire CD collection (8665 of them - I used to be a DJ) on external drives that I want to transfer to the Hitachi drives. I installed the OS, battlefield 2 and World of Warcrack on the raptors, which are set up for mirrored RAID. It took me about 45 minutes to put it all together. It takes about 40 seconds to startup the system and get on the internet...

Now to check out the OC options....

  2. Arrived via UPS last 2 days:

    Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W Modular # W0133RU

    Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 & Core 2 extreme QX6800

    Thermaltake Armor Aluminum Case

    Themantake Tower 12 cooling fan

    Corsiar Twin2X2048-8500C5D x 2 (4gb Memory)

    2 GeForce 8800 GTX's

2 Hitachi GST DeskStar 7K1000 HDDs

    2 Raptor 150Gb 10000 rpm drives

    Lite-On Super-Multi LH20A1H DVD burner.

    Am I forgetting anything????

  3. How about the Striker extreme, C2E qx6800, 4gb crucial ddr2 pc8500 @ 1000Mhz, 2 8800 gtx cards, an Auzentech X-Meridian sound card, Thermaltake Armor LCS tower, Koolance 1200 Watt Liquid-Cooled Power Supply, 1 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 750gb hdd, ASUS Black LightScribe DVD Burner. Anything I'm forgetting? I have a 2000w stereo to hook it up to.

  4. Thanks for the ideas. I've been doing a little research.

That last list looks very good. The 680i motherboard is one that I've been considering. Would that work with a core 2 extreme (qx6800) instead? As I said I'm not concerned about the price because I will be spending most of my time on the computer. And which is better, the radeon 1950x or the nvidia 8800 gtx? I'm only using one monitor, an lg flatron m3201c-ba but I may get another one.

  5. I recently bought a gateway fx8020 and it is a total POS. :dead-horse: I'm taking it back to Best Buy as soon as I build my own. I don't know much about building computers but it can't be that hard to do. Money is not a consideration. I'm permanently disabled and set for life. I want to build the fastest gaming computer money can buy and am looking for suggestions on which motherboard, graphics card(s), power supply, and so on. So the question to all of you out there who have built your own computers is if money were no object, what would you get?
