1. it's a buzz word used by marketing people and consumers that don't know any better.
2. how are you trying to open them: app search, clicking on them in the metro interface, etc.? what happens when you try to open them?
3. i get nauseous whenever someone refers to metro in any fashion. those pics are not for those who just ate.
4. borrowed from urban dictionary... You might be "metrosexual" if: 1. You just can't walk past a Banana Republic store without making a purchase. 2. You own 20 pairs of shoes, half a dozen pairs of sunglasses, just as many watches and you carry a man-purse. 3. You see a stylist instead of a barber, because barbers don't do highlights. 4. You can make her lamb shanks and risotto for dinner and Eggs Benedict for breakfast... all from scratch. 5. You only wear Calvin Klein boxer-briefs. 6. You shave more than just your face. You also exfoliate and moisturize. 7. You would never, ever own a p
5. maybe for moderate use. the reason why mouse/keyboard works so well is that our hands/arms have a place to rest allowing us to use computers much longer than if we only used something like that or touch screens.
6. i've had some more extended usage of windows 8. once you get rid of that god awful metro interface, what you find is: windows 7. windows 8 is windows 7 + that terrible metro :filtered:.
7. if only crossfire didn't suck so bad with driver support. i run 6870's in crossfire. regarding asrock: i will never buy one of their boards.
8. avg, avast, kaspersky, trend-micro...those are all solid choices.

i use microsoft security essentials, but they've been getting poor ratings lately.
9. is this computer part of a domain?
10. as an amd fanboy, i have to say go with intel. intel is simply blowing the pants off amd performance-wise right now.
11. go to your control panel open internet options choose the connections tab click the lan settings button ensure that the proxy server setting has nothing next to address and the box is unchecked for "use a proxy server..." hit ok click on the general tab under browser history, choose delete delete temporary internet files click ok on everything, try again
12. incidentally googlr.com is also google.com. anyway, this testing rules out latency issues. have you run virus / malware scans? download and run the 32bit housecall scan here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
13. in this case your default gateway is 192.168.1.1. so i would like you to type in 'ping 192.168.1.1' as well as 'ping google.com'
14. go to start-->run type in 'cmd', press enter type 'ipconfig', press enter note the numbers next to default gateway (something like 192.168.1.0) type 'ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' (where the x's represent the address of the default gateway) type 'ping google.com' post back the results of both of those
15. when you say "running very slow" could you explain in detail what you mean? please provide examples if possible.
16. i'm not understanding why an extra app would even be necessary? the mobile version of the forum works just fine.
17. i've used windows 8 and it's terrible. not just terrible, but terribad. there are very few redeeming pieces to it. i think (as do a huge number of people who have used it) that it's the worst windows os since windows me...yes, even worse than vista. i've always defended windows 7...it's a very good operating system. i've said many good things about it....i think you're getting too emotional about this debate.
18. might have to check the license agreement to be sure, but downloading now.
19. flyfishing...relax man, it's okay for us to have differing opinions.
20. consensus by whom? most of the reviews i've read say that windows 8 doesn't really offer anything new other than the interface and many have compared it to a less boggy vista. just because i question the action doesn't mean i don't "get it", that's a silly argument. i simply would like to know why someone would upgrade from windows 7 just to then use third party software to make the upgraded os more like the old one. i think that's a very fair question.
21. what am i missing? why one would upgrade just to install 3rd party software to downgrade or that intel is slightly changing a marketing definition? you're correct about the former.
