1 Server & 2 Isp's
badbinary replied to ajsonnick's topic in Networking, Email, and Internet Connections
terry said something that you should absolutely do: pay a networking consultant to check everything out. if you can get a CCIE, that would be best, but there are very few of them out there...a CCNP would be sufficient. CCIE - Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert CCNP - Cisco Certified Network Professional -
well, i got dead space 3 for free for buying sim city early. you have to buy and register the game by march 25th. there were other games to choose, i just chose dead space 3.

1 Server & 2 Isp's
badbinary replied to ajsonnick's topic in Networking, Email, and Internet Connections
you can have them both run through a server running routing and remote access...or you could run them both into a router that supports that very setup (cisco will be where you'll look). either way, it's a fairly common setup for places that wish to have fault-tolerance in case one isp goes down. -
i'm not so sure of that...there's too much money in proprietary software and companies like microsoft, hp, and dell are very large and powerful. linux is so prominent in the mobile market thanks to google getting into the game early with android, but there is a very large divide between mobile and desktop right now.

ty well, after playing it a while i'll give my verdict: it's about an 8/10. i think sim city 4 was definitely the best of the franchise so far, and is better than the new sim city by a little bit. the main reason for this is that the city sizes in the new one are smaller, and i love to build up huge cities and i really like to connect cities together to create even more massive cities. there is connection in the new one, but it's a bit different; it's more spread out and distinctly separate. there are definite improvements (beside the obvious graphics which are quite nice). i like the use of resources, the great works, the additions to important buildings for which you must make choices, and the gifting among the cities in a region. there are more, but that's a cliff notes version. for the record, i'd give sim city 4 w/ the xpac a 9.5/10 (.5 deducted for stability issues on non-xp computers that never really got resolved) in all, the new sim city is fun, addictive, and definitely something i'm glad i purchased. i don't know if the $60 price tag is the right price for it, i'm thinking $40 is better, but one pays a premium to get something on release day. edit: forgot to add: since the first two days i haven't had a single issue with the servers. it seems they resolved those quite quickly.

i just want to be clear on something: guessing your password is not hacking. the word "hacking" is probably the most misused word on the internet. -

thunderbird is just an email client, not an email provider like yahoo is. what c_b suggested makes no real sense as you will still need to get a pop/imap mail provider.i've had an email account with yahoo for over 10 years now and have never had issues because i use a secure password. at least 8 characters, mixture of upper and lower case, special characters, and numbers. also make sure it's not a word but rather is just random. -

that's not a keylogger, it's adware. while you don't want it on your system, it's not causing a password issue with yahoo. you really should contact yahoo support. -

yes, a malware / virus scan would probably detect a keylogger as malware. -
64 bit operating systems require 64 bit drivers. make sure you install the 64 bit version of the drivers.

first off, your yahoo account wasn't "hacked". they simply figured out your not very secure password or you have a keylogger on your computer (not likely, but possible).secondly, contact yahoo for issues with your password. -

lol...i don't think you understand. -
i bought it on release day. the servers had been kind of iffy for the first few days, but that was to be expected by any experienced gamer. as to my opinion of the game itself, i'll refrain from expressing it until i've had a chance to play it more. i've been away on vacation with my wife for our anniversary and haven't had much chance to play. i can confirm, however, that it does look pretty.

consoles are mainly for kids and those that can't afford a decent computer. that's my opinion, anyway.

and they wonder why people pirate software...

amazon can easily quantify the lower costs vs brick and mortar due to much lower operating expenses from the business model. i don't see anything wrong with this...in fact, if they were to keep their prices artificially higher to stay in line with the brick and mortar stores it would likely be collusion. the upgrade of windows 8 pro is a retail version. i think you're talking specifically about retail, non-upgrade version...honestly, ms is probably smart to not spend money putting it out since nobody really wants it.

unless you're the messaging server administrator, you can't. -
