  1. Thanks caintry_boy - that didn't work either. I've just gone back to factory settings and retained user data, so now just got to set the pc up again. I've got connected again by doing this - a bit drastic but nothing else seemed to help. Thanks all for trying.
  2. Thanks signman - I've just tried that and it hasn't worked. Anything else? I'm getting desperate.
  3. Thanks mme, just tried that again but it's when I click to start the service I'm getting the error message. Any other ideas?
  4. I have been happily using my Windows 7 PC for over a year now with wireless connection. Tonight I did microsoft updates, rebooted and now cannot get on line. The network is working ok as I'm using my netbook to type this, I just can't get onto my PC. I've tried system restore to no avail. In services the WLAN Auto Config says automatic and says to start the service. When I try this I get this error message: "Windows could not start the WLAN Auto Config service on local computer. Error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start. When I go to msconfig and click on the
  5. Thanks for this tip - just started using windows 7 and trying to find my way around it.
  6. Sorry Juliet, should have put it better. You said HJT is a little outdated. That was the link caintry_boy gave me for it.
  7. No issues Juliet, the laptop is working just fine. Thanks for your help. It was caintry_boy who suggested trying a hijack this log. Do I need to run these tests now? By the way perhaps you could give caintry_boy the new link for HJT!!

  9. Ahh - that explains why I couldn't get it to work through Secunia, but got it fixed here. Thanks to all.
  10. I installed SP1 last night and so far have no problems, computer seems to be working very smoothly. It did take about an hour to download and install - installation took 50 mins (that was with all previous up dates already installed) and you can't use the computer during that time, that was the only downside.
  11. Doesn't the very beauty of Creation make you believe there is a God? There's no way man could make up the beauty that we see all around us.
  12. Never has a truer word been spoken. I am a Christian, I believe the Bible is the Word of God, and Jesus is the Son of God who died for us and rose again, but I don't go to any church anymore after over 40 years of going to church. Christianity should not be a religion, it's about a relationship with Jesus Christ. You are so right Bruce - it's because man has made the church and put his ideas in it that it's no longer what it was meant to be. I love this signature of theoldgardener - "I love your Christ! I don't like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." That is e
  13. I may be in the minority with Bruce, but I like Vista now I've been using it for 4 weeks. I like the UAC with the added security it gives and being able to search from the start menu is handy too. I moved from XP and liked it, I like Vista just as much.
  14. Thanks 8210GUY. I'm new to Vista and looking for all the tips and tricks I can get.
  15. SuperAntiSpyware did indeed get rid of a bundle. Running it on my own machine now.
