I'm all about learning new things. And not being windows is a big advantage that Linux hasmust understand that its not windows and all operating systems are different, so dont try it if your not willing to learn something new

I'm downloading Feisty right now to dual boot with. This is my first Linux experience so I hope it's good.

1.8 probably isn't enough. Try taking it up a little bit. The errors on your HD are probably because your RAM is corrupting data.I found the ram voltage adjust in bios.. i changed it from auto to 1.8.. heres hoping.

I'm pretty sure Alcohol 120% burns .img files. It is a very good program, and you can get a trial version that makes it not even worth buying.

The generic windows monitor drivers work fine for me. Are you using them or drivers that came with the monitor?
-
Try adjusting the color settings on your monitor.
-
Does this only happen on the internet?
-
The first thing I would try is to update your video card drivers. There may be compatibility problems with Vista.
-
I never noticed that running Vista. Does this text look red and green now?
How about now

My grandpa's computer was crawling slow and took 30+ minutes to boot. I cleaned it up and did some tweaks but it still was terrible. I finally removed some of the crapware that AOL installed and it started working better.
-
If anything from AOL could be considered goodiesHe ordered Broadband from AOL and subsequently received the kit of goodies
-
You can download it here
-
I would suspect that too, but I have no idea how to test it. Do the pcpitstop test and post your results so we can see more information.hmm any idea of how i check the system board? im suspicious thats what it is.
-
I'm not the expert on this kind of thing but there are many people here who are. They would be better help on some parts than I am. Also, I should have asked you to do this first, could you do a Pcpitstop test and post your techexpress link. instructions on how to do this here
-
Good, we can just narrow it down to the bad part and RMA it. Memtest works best when it makes multiple passes over the RAM. Many people recommend that you let it run overnight for the best test.Yeah its new, i just put it together yesterday. All of the parts were ordered off of tiger direct.. so if one is bad im sendin er back. I'll run the mem test now.. does it take awhile?
-
In my school they used to go on the PA and say "Dr. Lincoln is in the building." That was their code for intruder.
-
It could be the PSU, CPU, or motherboard as well. If this is a new system you should be able to RMA the bad part. We should be able to find what is wrong.Glad to know im not the only one. Ok if this memtest shows theres nothin wrong with the Memory... what else could it be? Is it time to take it in? its a brand new system
-
Better to ask questions than to do something wrong. I had a similar problem before and I almost went insane.
-
Your PSU is probably not the problem. It could be a faulty or cheaply made PSU so we can't rule it out altogether but I would recommend trying memtest86 now.It says 440 Watts.. My PSU is 500
-
If the PSU calculator doesn't reveal a problem download Memtest86 and run it overnight to test your RAM. If it finds a single error that means bad RAM.Could be a memory issue too.
