  1. This website is very helpful when faced with fields that require more information than you want to give. http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/ You can create an entire fake identity with the click of a button.
  2. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have every intention to seize this opportunity.
  3. After weeks of waiting, the response to my college application came back. It's official now: this next fall I'll be at Missouri S&T (Rolla), studying for a masters in Computer Science. Rolla has been somewhat of my dream school since my first visit there, and despite my average to poor grades and lack of extracurricular activities they let me in. Needless to say, I'm very very excited. I'd just like to thank everyone here at the Pit for helping me unlock the nerd within me. The experience and knowledge I gained here is invaluable, and I hope I can dedicate more time here in the future to helping others.
  4. They made three of them? Number one was funny....this one, not so much.
  5. Choosing Opera over Firefox gives you an extra point. I smell bias...
  6. Pretty good, but I've scored better on other nerd tests.
  7. Yep, they're both the same. And, if you're feeling adventurous, you could even try Ctrl+Shift+Esc.
  8. Thanks for the info. The best protection, of course, is to be aware of the threats and know what you're looking for.
  9. I think a lot of people felt the same way you did. Edit: By the way, nice to see another St. Louisan around here.
  10. If you haven't already, please VOTE!!! Thank you...
  11. Not as long as "Self-Proclaimed Dictator of the World".
  12. I don't plan on it, but it does seem to happen every few months.
  13. So, last I was here, my two hard drives had just died, and I was accessing the internet on a Kubuntu LiveCD. Well, my DVD drive chose the perfect moment to die, right when I needed it most. My internet access has been very sporadic, but I was finally able to get my hands on another DVD drive and a 20 gig HD, so now I can talk to Western Digital about how their online RMA service continues to think I'm a reseller, rather than an end-user, and won't take my RMA request because of this mistake. Anyway, it's good to be back. I'm seriously thinking of changing my member title to "The Amazing Disappearing Pitster"...
  14. Racism is one of the ugliest things mankind has ever come up with. Obama's nomination is indeed a great step forward, and whether he wins or loses the election, he will be remembered for it.
  15. That's a knee-slapper! I expect BIOS updates soon to come.
  16. I'm amazed the guy escaped in one piece. The driver's side of the car is completely smashed in.
  17. Is there an activation key you have to enter, or something? It may be because it's OEM, it's only a one-time use kind of thing. You could try OpenOffice. It's far better than MS Works, and free.
  18. You'll have to reformat and reinstall the operating system for such a big hardware change. You may have a bit of trouble setting up the boot screen with multiple OS's, but as long as you keep them on separate partitions or drives, they shouldn't conflict with each other.
