  1. D:\ is not accessible, the device is not ready. that's what it says when you explore the cd drive. The light doesn't come on the drive or anything.
  2. Thanks, Brandon. I got a mouse now! RAH, here are the files: C:\WINDOWS\System C:\WINDOWS\AOLSHARE\sysinfo C:\WINDOWS\PROGRAM FILES\GTE Internet Express Oh, and Brandon, the colors are fine, it seems, but when put upside another computer they're way off and the pictures are blotchy and hard to make out somtimes. Thanks again, y'all!
  3. I don't have a mouse that works on this PC. Is there any other way to expand the "in file" portion? Maybe I'll go by a mouse... I'll update ASAP! Thanks again!
  4. I searched the file, but I came up with three copies: C:\WINDOWS\SYST... C:\WINDOWS\AOLS... C:\PROGRAM FILES\GT... I can't read the rest of them. What should I rename the other file? Thank you SO much for your help! sincerely, babypctech
  5. Good evening everyone! I was given a Compaq Presario with Windows 95 by a friend. The graphics are terrible and I keep getting general protection faults and fatal exception errors. I assume there's a problem with the memory, but when I ran a test there were no problems with the memory, only a problem with the CD-Rom drive. It's error #6605, and I have no idea what that means. Does anyone know? And I still don't know what's causing the memory problems. I'm going to check the power supply and maybe make sure that the SIMMS are properly seated, but if that doesn't work, what else could be the problem? As for the graphics, maybe I should change the graphics card? Although I had a computer once that did the same thing and I was told that wouldn't help, that I should just buy a new computer. That was before I started studying as a pc tech, so I took the advice, but I really want to fix this one. I still don't know much, but I'm learning. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
