  1. HI, Thanks for the links, they sure are useful. I read one link that had several people saying they also had the same problem - it semmed as it was either CPU temp or RAM. I was going to try taking out a RAM stick (the last one I installed a few months ago - to see if it could be that. That led me to think that it has been ages since I have been inside my PC [always had the side off for one reason or another and hardly ever put it back on; until I put in the last RAM stick] To cut a long story short, I removed the side of my tower (now a few hours ago) and it has not shut down once
  2. C:/Windows/system32/Isass.exe <<< are you sure that spelling is correction, I nesd the complete error message, not just a word or two if you want help troubleshooting them. Unable to give complete message as the sytsem shuts before I can get it all down! Have read info and will do as explained - but other problems are getting worst, namly IE and explorer shutting down unexpectantly and blue screen showing error messages - roughly these are what it says (mostly PC shuts before I can read entire contents: 1. A problem has been detected Driver_IRQL_not_less_or_equal If you have intalled new hardware or software....... [which I have not] get updates or contact system admin... 2. System must restart C:/Windows/system32/Isass.exe I will continue to try to download that software you suggested and use add/remove progs

Online scan from housecall dleted many infection asscoiated with this worm, and snet me to a site to manually remove the rest - part of the way through it rquires me to edit the registry - START>RUN>REGEDIT will not open registry. Also have a file [ones.exe] in C: and SQM file keep appearing (sqmdata00.sqm) they keep reproducing with incrementing numbers in the filename Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 10:13:53, on 30/12/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.5730.0011) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe

Used HOusecall to do a sacn, came back with w32.spybot.worm w32.alcra.B w32.alcra.f downloaded Fixspybot and ran three times (once logged in as usual, once in safe mode and again logged in as administrator) all three scan came back they not found Virus report also gave paths of many threats, mostly trojans; when I follow the paths their are no files there of the specified name - in some instances the folders donot even exsist. I have checked tto ensure all hidden files are shown. I did locate this file to be told that I could not dlete it as it was currently being used. C:
