  1. Hello, I dislike the lack of ability to choose a page to substitute the "New Tab" page in Chrome, and I prefer avoiding third party software and the complications that come with it when possible, so I thought that the best solution would be editing chrome.dll to force the behaviour. However, I have limited knowledge of C (That is what this language is, right?), so I would greatly appreciate some help from someone more knowledgable. I have version 21.0.1180.89, and I think that I found the new tab resource by searching chrome.dll in Resource Hacker for "If we wanted to maintain position
  2. The only thing keeping me from moving over to Chrome now is the lack of compatibility with my fingerprint scanner. I remember readign something(good while ago) that said that the problem was more of an issue on the HP end than google, so I tried to uninstall my version and get the newest SimplePass(which was released before I bought this computer), and after all of the annoying uninstallation/reinstallation issues I was left with exactly the same problem, with the only difference being a garrish user interface and annoying taskbar icon. So I am going to reinstall my old "pretty" version,
  3. Thank you all for your input. I had settled on the Toshiba that was suggested, but then I checked the card and saw that it only supports OpenGL 2.1. I believe that the current version is 3.1 is it not? and I am I right in assuming that you cannot update your version without a firmware upgrade? The Intel chip that controls graphics for the desktop that I am using at this moment only supports version 1.4, and I was told that I would need to purchase an external card if I wished to use newer OpenGL functions.
  4. Glad that I came here for help first...the cheapest in the line of machines that the school is offering($1319.25) has these specs... 5. Well I'm a cheapskate...so I immediately favour the first one with one less usb and slightly smaller screen. What exactly do they eman by "finger print magnet?"
  6. Those specs are from a refurbished desktop that I got mid 2009 from a pc repair place.
  7. In all honesty I don't know anything about prices...but I could potentially spend just under $1000 using everything, and I don't really play games that often, but I have played civ 4, and that seems to run fine on my system, but I would not want to be unable to play any games that might be coming out.
  8. I am moving to the dorm in a few months, and I don't think my bulky desktop will be very compatible with freshman housing, so I need a laptop. problem is, I've enver bought a computer before, so I have no experience whatsoever, but I would like to get a laptop that at least meets the specs of my desktop for a reasonable price. here are my current specs, copied and cut down a bit from the main site... 12. I ran the gmer thing, and after about 40 seconds four or so things were listed, so I left it running over night, and when I woke up over 10 hours later the scan was still running but nothing else had been listed. I *luckily* clicked save, noticed that everything was moving at a crawl, and the computer was completely unresponsive afetr I opened the task manager, and I had to manually restart. So here is the log from the incomplete scan... GMER 1.0.15.15281 - http://www.gmer.net Rootkit scan 2010-05-10 09:49:50 Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Running: nv5qsuxm.exe; Driver: C:\DOCUME~1

  15. Thank you for quoting my link for me It looks like the fellows here at the pitstop are solidly in the Firefox camp, and even though I guess that I will never understand the animosity between people who favor different browsers, I understand that this is not something that many people(if any) are willing to look into. Thank you.
