  1. I did some googling too and only found that it has to do with overclocking in nvidia, which I have, or had. The closest I could find now is VIAS3/Unichrome. I copied Everest for you - I hope it is helpful. --------[ EVEREST Home Edition © 2003-2005 Lavalys, Inc. ]------------------------------------------------------------ Version EVEREST v2.20.405 Homepage http://www.lavalys.com/ Report Type Quick Report Computer
  2. I don't know. I have Everest Home -- where might I find it in there, if I have ATI?
  3. System idle is 99. All else is 00
  4. Hi Pit, When I am typing an e-mail in T-Bird, I can't go back and insert the curser to make a correction. When I do, the actual letter that will change, or I insert, is three or four spaces behind the cursur. It's in T-Bird as it isn't happening anywhere else, like in Word, or forums like this. What can I do to fix this? In the write screen, in "write" I tried changing "Body Text" to "Preformat" as a guess that it might help. I tried changing between "variable" and "fixed width." I don't know how many charactors are supposed to be set at - I had just left it as it was when I dow
  5. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANKYOU! duanester! I have sound. I have no wavy scrolling! You have made my day Thank you for giving me links that take me straight to the download, preventing me from making the wrong choices. I appreciate that very much.
  6. Thanks duanester. I downloaded the 4-1 drivers chipset (64-bit) and still have no sound yet and the scrolling still waves. They all downloaded without incident and I have restarted the computer. The Sound and Audio in the Control Panel still says there is no audio device. What else can I try?

  8. Hi All I started this post a week agao and I'm still working at the after effects of the virus virut.al. I'd like to ring the neck of the loser that wrote this virus... I thinkthe virus is gone finally by deleting my user screen. As instructed, I saved my files to CD and have put them back, hopefully, where they belong, in my new user screen. But, I can't find my Thunderbird email! I moved it over to the CD the same way I moved the other files, but what I found was a skeleton-like Thunderbird; it has none of my mail in it, and its in the initial stage of signing up for a email.
  9. Thanks Juliet for all your help time; it's much appreciated
  10. I ran system file checker - all was ok - it didn't say anything was wrong. I could not run System File Checker. The DOS screen only flashed a nanosecond everytime I tried. I followed the instructions to reinstall XP.: It wouldn't boot from the CD, so I checked the order of booting in BIOS - all is correct. I tried running CD from Explore (dangerous?) and it wouldn't install because the version I have is newer than the CD. I made a new folder to put it into, like it instructed, but it wouldn't let me install. If my computer is infected still, why doesn't it affect my daughter's sc
  11. Juliet, I did get back administrator rights, or so I thought. I downloaded Malwarebytes, HJT, etc., into my daughter's screen, by running as administrator (when I cold no longer get into my screen, where I had everything you have asked for to this point). I also have Everest Home edition which at other times, has been very helpful (I love that program!) I have Dial-a-Fix in my screen and I ran it when I could still get in and nothing changed. However, I did not check WU/WUAU because it gave the warning that it was for advanced users, and I didn't want to take the chance. I guess I shou
  12. Hi Juliet, I didn't know how to give my previous post the above new topic in the "Reply", sorry for making this a new topic post. Here is a review from the other post: I did all of the above. The gaining of administrator priviledges from your link did not work, but I somehow figured out a way (I couldn't get online since yesterday and had a problem at every turn - domino effect.) MY SCREEN WON"T LOAD AT BOOTUP. WHY??? I AM IN MY DAUGHTER'S. I CAN'T GET AS ADMINISTRATOR ICON IN SAFEMODE. (caps used to get attention) Here is my new HJ report: Logfile of Trend Micro H
  13. I do have administrator rights, or did have, whatever happened to them lately is unknown to me. I've used those rights to download and to set up an account and parental controls for my daughter some time back, among other things over the years. I neglected to say earler that I had run a gamut of "thorough" (when given the choice) tests with Avast!, A2, Spybot, Adaware, Comodo and Malwarebytes. One trojan was quarantined and one virus (but no name was given when I was alerted and I couldn't find it in quarantine). The tests were run in both normal and safe modes. I can't get to the safe
  14. Hi Pit, Everytime I log in, the Guest Account comes up, not mine. I even disabled it and the computer still boots into the guest account. I have to always log out, then log into my own account. What can do to stop that? Also, the computer won't acknowledge me as the Administrator. I tried making another Administrator account, thinking that maybe that one would allow me to download, but it didn't. I gave my account administrative rights as well. WINXP 3rd Dell Dimention 8100
