  2. Not sure if this is it Event Type: Information Event Source: Save Dump Event Category: None Event ID: 1001 Date: 11/11/2008 Time: 4:22:39 AM User: N/A Computer: TOBY-F952E69905 Description: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. 3. Thanks, is that the dump thing it does on the blue screen?
  4. I've done everything under the sun and still can't play with SLI enabled. I've got the main SLI enabled but under COD4MP profile in Nvidia 3D setting I have it set to "single GPU" in SLI Performance Mode. No crashes but no SLI either in COD4.
  5. They're both EVGA 8600GTS cards, same clocks, look identical Running fresh install XP Home with Nvidia 178.24 drivers. SLI is enabled in Nvidia control panel and in game, have yes answered for dual cards. Seems to be ok if I turn off SLI. Seems like COD4 just doesn't jive with SLI or something
  6. I built this computer several years ago. Finally decided to go SLI with it. I upgraded the PSU and added another 8600GTS. I play COD4 a lot and seem to only have crashes when playing it. No crashes prior to going SLI and none if I turn off SLI in Nvidia control panel. I've gotten some kind of IRQL error at blue screen, also have gotten nvdisp.dll, and something like gx.dll. I've updated everything, even BIOS. Not sure what else to do.
  7. I did find some info from someone who's done quite a few. It won't let you install an older OS like XP with Vista installed just by using the XP disk. My thoughts were confirmed by reading about using a hard drive eraser like killdisk then installing XP from scratch. I own a full version of XP that's on my desktop PC. All I'd need to do is purchase an extra license from MS. The hardware is the same, it's just Vista certified/compatible. I've wiped my hard drives several times on this desktop PC to do a fresh install of XP. It should work the same on the laptop I would think.
  8. Not that it matters, but I didn't know I'd dislike it. It's getting difficult to find a laptop w/o Vista on it as well. Has anyone replaced it w/ XP on one of these magical "Vista mchines"?
  9. Just bought a laptop with Vista Home Premium on it. I'm in total agreement that it sucks. At the point where they get XP to near perfection they come out with Vista. I'm trying to give it a chance but can't find even 1 thing that's better than XP. I'd like to know if it's possible to install my XP home on this laptop. I keep hearing this is a "Vista machine" and it's not possible. I've tried it but it won't let me replace Vista with an older OS during setup.
  10. I reinstalled XP and don't deem to be having any problems anymore, thanks
  11. just put in a brand new EVGA 8600 GTS today, RMA'd my 7900GT and this is what they sent me. Came into the forums to see if this was happening to anyone else. Had an MSI 7300LE in while the RMA was getting done. Glad to know it isn't a problem. It's working great otherwise and putperforms my old 7900GT. I was worried when I retested in the Pit. http://www.pcpitstop.com/techexpress.asp?id=VKN4HWMEGHVSH1MW
  12. Scans from several sources show no viruses or spyware. I get some errors involving DLL's and "can't find such and such" sometimes when installing software. Trying to figure out/narrow down where the problem lies. If someone could check out my log and let me know if anything looks off I'd appreciate it. 13. Did a couple mods to my Case, painted the stereo grille up front black to match my Logitech sub-woofer and installed a 120mm fan up top.
