  3. Kelley, thanks for the info, and Thatman did help me in the past. I do use some, if not all, the sites you mentioned but there is some very good reading there. I just saw all these things in the Log and was worried about them, but glad to know there are no malware:-) Do you think I need to do an Ewido Suite scan? Thanks again for your expert advice, and thanks all the soldiers overseas, and a prayer for the people affecgted by "Rita." Herb
  4. I've just done a Spyware check with Spy Sweeper, found 5 traces and 5 others. Did a McAfee virus scan and found no viruses. Can you please help me with this log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 2:30:34 PM, on 9/22/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXE C:\WINDOWS\
  5. Sorery, meant to add that I'm not having any problems:-)
  6. Thatman, I haven't done anything more to my pc, but I did run Ccleaner and Spysweeper. But you say it's clear...so it was clear on the last Hijackthis log I entered? Like I said, I was leery of downloading the ActivX for Panda, so I did nothing there. Let me ask if EWido Security Suite would do the same as Panda? Thanks again for all your help
  7. Thatman, as to Panda virus check, it won't just do a free scan but wants to downloadf it, and then also wants to download their own ActivX. I'm very leery of this and don't want to mess up my pc. Is this the way it's supposed to work? The free virus scan just doesn't want to start????
  8. Hi again. Okay, I went into Safe Mode, and thru Startup but found norun_startmenu.cmd. I only found "C:\ProgramFiles\BigFix.exe" /atstartup and one ini file. I ran Spybot and McAfee, found no spyware or viruses, and here's the latest Hijackthis, which I would like to know what to delete: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 3:46:57 PM, on 7/30/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\
  9. I ttried the Safe Mode again, and without actually clicking on IE, I did a Regedit using the words Global Startup, and one Global Startup came up. I wasn't sure if I should delete that without first coming here. Need more of your help, and thanks in advance.
  10. I ran into a snag. I removed 04 - Global Startup: run_startmenu.cmd from Hijackthis. And checked hidden files, unchecked hide protected operating system files. Went into Safe Mode and clicked on IE, but got the messages: "Cannot find server; The page cannot be displayed. I don't know how to locate the same file as above in files and folders in IE, can't locate anything like that. I need help with above, please. I also ran a McAfee virus scan, and it found no viruses. Thank you for all your help, but need more...................
  11. I'm back and need help in knowing which of these entries I need to discard, please: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 3:52:46 PM, on 7/23/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\csrss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\syst
  12. Hi, Thatman. Nope, I've had no further problems since your help. As a matter of fact, I've been on Firefox for the past four days and have been doing all my browsing from it. This morning I ran Spybot, and for the first time in months I was absolutely free of any spware I really am thankful and appreciative for all your help...what a great group!!! I'll follow your last instructions, and wish you all a very nice weekend. Peace..............................Tonka
  13. Okay, was able to follow all your instructions up to doing a Panda virus scan, because instead of doing the scan, they wanted to download it, and it wouldn't download. The url you gave me was not effective, but I was able to enter the Panda site. However, I have McAfee and did a scan, which found no viruses. Here is my present HJT log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 4:05:41 PM, on 7/15/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\
