  1. Haha you think I haven't tried that? She has her own account and I was forced to give her admin access since the Limited Access setting is more or less just access to notepad and solitare. I did, however, switch her to limited access and she went into automated PMS mode and ripped my head off (verbally - she's really small). She's only been home from college for 2 - 3 days and she's cauing these kinds of problems. If I was to draw and quarter her, that would get the point across right? "Hotbar" is an annoying ad - bar that she claims makes her background look pretty. It sucks so ba
  2. Unfortunately, those are all circumstances where the virus has been executed. In my case, I forestalled this and just got it cornered but it's giving me access denied crap and I need to know what to do. Thanks for you help anyway, I checked all your suggestions just to be safe.
  3. Well, I had a bad day followed by some computer debacles. I came home to HotBar on my computer (my sister visited the site and it automatically installed itself) which was trying to access the internet (thank you Zone Alarm). And on top of that I had about 4 warnings of a worm on my computer from AVG. I called my sister and found out she was trying to get an Adobe Photoshop crack from Kazaa (mistake #1) and it was still downloading (mistake #2 - I already had Adobe Photoshop on our computer ). After stopping the download I figured the .dat was deleted, which it was. After I cleaned up th
  4. Oh, good, I thought I was the only one. It's always happened to me but like everything else Windows screws up on, I look the other way. After all, if I can't see it it's not there!
  5. It may be spyware, but my money is on it being a hi-jacking. Go here to download Hi-jackthis: http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/ Do a scan and save the log. Copy the log's contents and paste it into this topic and I'm sure radio or someone who can "read" it will be along to figure out what to do.

(oxymoron?) Do you have more than one user on your computer? I had this problem as well and it was because the CD-ROM and Floppy Drive were allocated between the multiply accounts on my computer causing "Access Denied" errors.
  7. 120 .... hmph.... Give me credit, it's 11:20 at night, I just finished with 2 hours of homework, and my contacts are dry. The highest I've ever scored on an online IQ test is 138. I guess that's something to be proud of....
  8. I've found if a new brand of deodorant gives you a rash, "slowly" progess off of your old brand. That way you don't cause a sudden shock to your, um, armpits. I don't understand how you can take that Axe stuff. My friend sprayed it on after gym and it was like a mild mace to me. If it irratates men, how is going to turn women into nymphomaniacs like their ads suggest?
  9. Go here for some troubleshootin': http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/ It sounds like you have the "Scan Hangs at 0%" error.
  10. I would suggest turning off system restore. To do this: Right-click on my computer > Properties > System Restore > Check the box next to Turn off System Restore Re-scan and see if that works...
  11. I will never forget the good 'ol times where my sister would get mad about taking me somewhere and whip around corners, fly through stop signs and red lights, then tell me, "Ryan, never do this!".
  12. That was really funny. I especially like the one with the gas pump trailing. I only have my permit and I get to experience my mom side-seating driving me ALL THE TIME.
  13. Well, I would take new over used any day. But, money is always an issue. So it really depends on what your willing to spend. Dell has some great $499 computers that have more power than she'll ever need.
