  1. Yes that is driver site. Only problem is that it will not boot to OS CD. Set CMOS to boot from CD but nothing happens.
  2. Well I finally did it and not sure why! Purchased a Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939, nForce3 250Gb chipset board, with two 200 GB SATA 3 Seagate drives. The problem is I cannot for the life of me get Windows XP to install. Set boot from CD and restarted. Nothing. Am I missing something? Been told I have to load drivers for drives when Windows asks for it. Only prob no install. Any help would be appreciated.
  3. Have your Internet Security settings been changed by choice or accidently?
  4. First of all. Now for the tech stuff. My understanding is you only have it installed on one system. Just call them back and when they ask how many machines it is installed on, just say one and they should give you a new key. Make sure you choose activate by phone and give them the 42 digit number.
  5. That is true, 64 bit processor will revert back to 32 bit when run on 32 bit XP, but with the 64 bit processors you will still get a significant increase in speed and processing of programs especially if you get a processor with HT procesing.
  6. In my humble opinion, the best route is to purchase a 64 bit board and processor but run 32 bit OS and software. The reason is a lot of hardware manufacturers have not opted to provide 64 bit drivers yet. An example is my Lexmark 1150 will not work on 64 bit due to Lexmark not providing drivers. Most companies will probably get on the bandwagon eventually. In the future then you can upgrade to Windows 64 bit Vista or other OS.
  7. Make sure that both drives are not connected to same ide cable. Some drives have compatibility problems when run on same cable.
  8. Had to call it something since AMD beat them to the name Dual core. By the way Amd is a true Dual core and Intel is a single core split into two processing areas.
  9. It might take a bit of pressure to pop the top off of the spacebar since it is larger than regular key. Should just pop off.
  10. On most laptop keyboards they have little rubber cups that are under the keys, you can gently lift key off. You then can check to see if cup might have shifted or possibly dirty. Laptops get dirt and fuzz under keys. Try and clean under keys. You can purchase canned air at most computer stores. Or if you have any windy friends just let them blow on it. BTW:
  11. Biggest problem is you have IE7 Beta, it is still in development and has lots of issues. Beta is designed for developers to use and find bugs like the one you are experiencing.
  12. That is why it is called BETA. Developers use it to test features and suggest better ways to do it. Really not designed for everyday users. More than likely those changes will be done before it is available for public use.
  13. Go to Start, Control Panel, Network connections. It should show all connections. If your wireless is connected it will show under the wireless connection icon. If not, right click on it and choose connect. This will work if you have a wireless internet connection available.
  14. Had the same problema few days ago. Seems Windows loses boot order and needs to be fixed. This is the fix I found. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=330184
  15. Check here. I have had good luck with this site. [http://www.alancomputech.com/
  16. That is the only problem with RAID setups, if you mess your system up bad enough to use a restore disk, you have to start over with installing RAID drivers separatly. RAID is not real forgiving.
  17. If you can remove fan, there is a label on the bottom side that covers the fan blade shaft. peel this off and put a small drop of 3 in 1 oil or mineral oil on shaft. Then physically turn fan until it frees up. Also make sure all dust is cleaned off fan blades. This sometimes will extend life of fan.
  18. I have no answer for you. Only one question, where did you get IE 7?
  19. Could this be it? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product...n&lang=en&cc=us

Go to compaq.com and use their online support. You get to talk to a real person online. They have helped me on numerous occassions with my Presario Laptop.
  22. Windows XP does not usually have the motherboard utility drivers. You will need to find the board manufacturer for each one and download system utility drivers. ALSO
