  1. Woot, I think I got it guys. After I installed card and let windows install, I got the signed driver error. So I rebooted and re-selected the disable forced signed driver thing, and when it got to desktop, it was installing the serial ports, which completed correctly. I checked the device manager, and both the 2 serial ports and the parallel port look to be working fine, wee! Thanks for the help and ideas!
  2. But there is NO option for Windows 7 drivers..
  3. I remembered how I got drivers to install- I shutdown and installed card, then let windows find it. I had it search the disk for drivers, and auto install. It installed, but now I still get the crap about windows found a problem while installing, windows requires a digitally signed driver, etc. I had selected the option while rebooting before to not require digital signing too, guess it didnt fix this issue. I couldnt get it to do anything before installing the card. The drivers HAVE to be installed before the card is put in the mobo?
  4. When I attempt to install the drivers/any drivers, it says installation aborted. I just found the "disable signature" deal and did it, tried to install drivers but no difference yet, still says "Installation aborted". Yesterday I had drivers install- but had the issue of "Windows could not verify the digital signature, etc etc", Just cant recall how I got that far. So for Windows 7 64 bit I should be using the Vista 64bit you think? I'll check the driver u listed and see where I can get
  5. Hi, I needed a pc to run a cnc mill I'm putting together. I purchased a small E-machines low profile PC, and a parallel port card http://www.startech.com/item-specs/PEX2S1P...kout-Cable.aspx The pc uses Window 7 64bit. Apparently the card/drivers are not compatible with windows 7, even though it is listed in the product info. what can I do to fix this? Is there a compatibility option in windows 7 that will allow this card to work for me? Thanks, Ben W

  8. hi all, Been awhile since i needed a hand. Wound up with "outerinfo" problems tonight and cannot seem to get rid of it. I cannot remove the outerinfo program from the add/remove list in cp, my antivirus pops up anytime i try. Also, trying to use the links posted here on another thread on uninstalling Outerinfo doesnt work, my antivirus says it found Generic Malware virus and deleted it instead of showing the page. Don't know how much this helps, if at all, but after cleaning, scanning and cleaning some more, I ran HJT and heres the log. Logfile of HijackThi
  9. Ugh. I tried some of the above before rushing out to the store today before work. Tried new Mobo and even a new power supply, no luck. With new Mobo and power supply, it doesn't beep though, just won't post. I did remove the vid card, and it gave a series of beeps. I guess it has to be my proccessor So now I guess unless anyone can suggest anything I will be off to the store again tommorrow for a new cpu. I will try to test things out further tonight when i get home to try to make positive thats what i need now.
  10. ok..thank you. So anyone else know aome things I may need to watch for before I purchase or install this new mobo?
  11. I tried a different keyboard and nothing changed, still wont boot, so we can cross out that one. ty After 20 calls to tech supports- I managed to get a guy who verified that my beep code of 1 long- 3 short was video related. Since I had switched the video card out with a know working one and it still didn't post- I was told my motherboard was likely the cause. So it looks like Im probably headed out tommorrow to pick up a new Mobo.. I shouldn't have any issues switching them out should I? I don't think the local store has A8N's, but I assume as long as I get a dif
  12. Hi, Yesterday I came home and my computer was off. Upon attempting to startup, it gives a series of beeps- one long and 3 short, followed a few seconds later with one long and 4 short. System specs Asus A8N-SLI Motherboard- AMD 3200 athlon Geforce 6800GS video Corsair XMS ram 1gb I have looked for an explanation of the beep codes, but havent found any straight-forward answers. It uses Award bios. I HAVE tried resetting the bios (removing battery, moving jumper- waiting a bit, setting jumper back to default and replac
  13. The game is Soldner secret wars. I may have not explained things correctly, Its not a liscense issue, we are using two CD'd with separate CD keycodes. We can both play online simultaneously no problem. The problem occurs when I try to host a dedicaded online server on my comp, AND play the game on it. If I am only running the server, our other computer can join and play fine, as well as other players. If I join MY server- or any other server for that matter, I disconnect, and often cause the players on my server to disconnect. I have the correct ports forwarded, but am
  14. Not true. I could run a online dedicated server and play on the same computer when I had just the one PC, now that we have 2 and a router, its a no go. I have a friend who can do the same with his comp. Now I've been told I could accomplish what Im trying to do, just that its not easy. Here are some replys from the games tech guru " You have to do a port forwarding. If your server has port 20000 the clients from outside are trying to connect the ip you get by your provider on port 20000. But this ip is the router not the game server. so you have to forward the r
  15. Hi, Im having trouble getting my setup to work properly. WHat im trying to do is this, I have 2 computers hooked up to a router. I am trying to run a dedicated server on my best comp WHILE playing on both.. All I can get now is the other comp- the one not running the server, joined up and playing fine. The one running the server cannot connect. I get disconnected almost immediately upon joining. I have set each computer to a static IP, and enabled the ports required to play in the router for both. It seems like the computer running both game and server is
