  1. Thank you Jacee with you advise and a few other things I tried, I think I finally go it under control. Thanks for the help!
  2. The computer is running slow, it was eat up by malware/spyware & also had several viruses. Powershell keeps crashing & I have to reset IE options to allow file download after every reboot. The HD is far from full & it's a fairly new computer just very sluggish & slow. Programs crashing or not responding like CCleaner & Malwarebytes, but I have that mostly resolved now. Her avast antivirus was out of date & automatical update wasn't on so she was wide open for couple of weeks. I've tried to remove Norton but it doesn't wanna give it up. Thank you Jacee!
  3. Hey all, I'm working on my aunt's computer. (She's up in age and her laptop is her lifeline to the world) I've run various programs, Malwarebytes, CCleaner, RKill, and have come back to faithful, HJT. So hopefully the great minds here can help me out. BTW, I was a member several years ago, lot of things have happened since then, kids, work, etc but Hello to the Veterans and newbies too. 4. I downloaded the VLC, it's working, the video is lagging a bit, but might be my pc. I tried using Roxio to burn the DVD but it's not showing the video, just the audio.
  5. Sorry about the wrong name, it is a Sanyo, duh I bought a USB cable, and a card reader, but the reader won't work for some reason, it does on my other cards, but not these videos. The USB cable works great, I can transfer the videos to my computer and they say they are Windows Video Clips. When I play them via Windows Media Player, I get the sound but I don't get any picture, but playing it on the camera, it's fine. It wouldn't be so bad, but I have videos from my kids, holidays, birthdays, etc, and can't get them lined out. I have been to Sanyo's site, but haven't had much luck, I've done a search for it, but still no luck. Thanks
  6. I purchased a Sanyo Xacti camcorder with intent on putting my family videos on DVD. I now have a stash of about 4 memory cards full. I can't find out how to get my videos off the cards and I'm guessing converted to burn them to a DVD. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
  7. MBAM is clear, no infections, Thanks for the help once again!
  8. So Far So Good, I did as you all advised, and after a reboot back into safe mode and a regular reboot, it doesn't show on either in the registry. I am going to update MBAM and run another scan just to be sure. I'll post back on the results. Thanks again!
  9. No dice, didn't work. No matter how many times I run MBAM, it still finds this Trojan.FakeAlert and says it will delete it on reboot, but it doesn't delete it. What if I backup the registry and physically remove this process from it?
  10. Ok, I've updated and scanned, it tells me "Certain Items cannot be removed! The first few are listed below. All items that could not removed have been added to the delete on reboot list. Please restart your computer now. A log file was saved to the Logs Folder. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Components\0\friendlyname Your computer needs to be restarted to complete the removal process. Would you like to continue?" I hit yes, then restart and re-run MBAM and I get the same results and answers. I am going to try it again to be sure.
  11. My friend (I'm the computer guy of the family, lol ) His computer has been acting up, and it's from things he has downloaded, me telling him not to. He gets pop-ups or email about fixing your registry or speeding up your computer and just can't say no. So, here we are, I've updated and run MBAM on it, it's cleared everything but one entry. The entry is a Trojan.FakeAlert & I attemped to clear it out, but I'm afraid to do too much. It tells me to reboot and it will delete it but it doesn't, should I try to remove it in Safe Mode or is there some other way to rid this computer of this infection. Some day I'm gonna get time and learn to do all this myself, but until then I'll keep coming to the Pit. Thanks for your help, hard work, and knowledge. 12. I've giving up on it, It's beyond me, I gave it back to her, I've done everything I know of and can't get anywhere. It must be the time of the year for computer problems, and when you are the family computer guy everyone wants you to fix theres, so I'm stumped on another one that I'm going to post about. Thanks for your help and time Jacee!
  13. HJT will run, & will save a log file, but the log file won't open up. It gives an error.
  14. I have tried diligently to get Kasperky to run, it will download the program and start updating the database then gives me the following error: Update has failed. Program has failed to start. Close the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 window and open it again to install the program. You must be online to update the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7 database. With the latest database updates, you can find new viruses and other threats. Please go online to use Kaspersky Online Scanner 7. [ERROR: Key is expired] I'm still trying to get Kasperky to run though.
  15. Shew, this is driving me nuts. I'm trying to update all the drivers, some have updated, some won't, as the computer locks up before they get downloaded completely, it keeps locking up still, not as bad as before, but enough to make me want to scream. Something still just isn't right I believe, but I don't know what. Still trying to update everything.
