Sorry to deviate from the current issue, but insofar as pcmatic vs optimize - I currently have Optimize, DiskMD3 and Driver Alert since they were originally released, and have recently licensed PCMatic as well. As my registration for Optimize is due in a couple of weeks, followed by the others, should I just stay with PCMatic only? The description says that PCMatic is a combination of them all, so is there any benefit relicensing the others as well? I realise that having only PCMatic is a revenue drop for PCPitstop, but would appreciate advice... Thanks, EricN

Not sure how to check if SMART is enabled, nothing in the BIOS, but I ran Belarc Advisor and under 'Drives' I can see: FUJITSU MHT2080AH PL [Hard drive] (80.03 GB) -- drive 0, s/n NP0TT5325KRD, rev 006C, SMART Status: Healthy so I assume it is there. Would this be a problem? I don't see how to disable it. I know that the PCPitstop tests used to work OK, just can't remember if it was the previous version that worked, the before Overdrive...
  5. Sorry, still no go. Did the disk cleanup, and the disk checker, no change.....
  6. Hmmm. I removed Diskeeper, and then defragged with Windows defrag, retried the test - still no go. Still abends at same spot. I ran Optimizer2 to clean up the junk and registry, and rebooted, stll no go. I'll leave my laptop as is, in case you want me to try something. Again, thanks for your interest. Best regards.
  7. I have Diskeeper 10 Professional installed, and that overrides the native XP defrag. I executed the Diskeeper defrag, and then Overdrive, but no change. Still aborts on 'Analysing scan results.....'
  8. Yeah, have tried the XP Windows Disk Cleanup, and also regularly run the disk error checking tool. I also have PCPitstop Optimize2 which I run regularly. When I run Overdrive, all OK until the 'Disk health Check' where it gets to the 'Analyzing scan, please wait...'. Shows 54%, then 86%, then 100%, then dies with a popup - 'Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close'.... I click on the 'more information' and get : Error signature ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 8.0.6001.18732
  9. Hi IntelGuy, Sorry for the delay, been overly busy with work....... Anyway, I checked with the link you gave me above and that worked when I disabled the Disk Health Check. I then did the same using the default url from the PCPitstop home page, and that too worked OK, so the change you did fixed that issue. Many thanks, I suppose from more than just me Now, if we could get the Disk Health Check to work, that would be nice, but I defrag anyway every week using DiskMD, so it's not all that important for me at this point. Again, thanks.
  10. How do I upload the image? Not much to see on it. The first test 'Checking Make/Model' is where it hangs. BTW, I set the debug options using url http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/Debug.asp instead of the one that comes up when I select 'Go to our debugging page' - http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/debug.asp, and then it worked OK. Weird. On both I select 'Skip testing disk health', then click 'Test with debug'. Each one of these opens a different page, the betapit one shows me all my results, and then I select 'Scan this system' from the left column. If you show me how to uplo

  12. I have exactly the same issue, running with XP, in IE 8. My test died (as usual) on the Disk Health check, and straight after, IE restarted it. I killed IE, and started again in debug mode (selected 'Having trouble', then 'Go to our debugging page' on that page), selected not to run with Disk Health Check, but then the test just hangs on the very first option - 'Checking Make/Model'. Note that I could not rerun the full test until I had manually logged off, then reconnected to PC Pistop, and logon. By not logoff/logon, even the Full Test would hang on the 'Checking Make/Model'.
  13. OK, I did as instructed. Could not unregister or delete diskafu.dll - came back as not found. I reran the test, and after reinstalling the ActiveX, it went through to checking disk c:. It then stopped on the "Checking Drive c:....Analyzing scan, Please wait.....", then a message box pops up informing of an error with Pcpitstop.dll, I press 'Continue', then another box saying the IE has encountered an error and needs to close. Thats the story in a nut shell. Thanks.
