  1. Thanks SweetTech, yes I found out about gmail details but some time after the spam email sent from it so only had my recent log ins, it only keeps a few , I have done a thread on goggle help forum and gather lot of people have had similar situation recently. My only other concern now is my mobile phone, just had a nokia 5800 symbian smartphone and not sure how secure that is, I did go onto gmail with it. I'm going to take a look for virus security for it too I think!
  2. Thank you again SweetTech as a not very techy person but interested if you have time, may I ask what the logs otl, gmer etc indicated?
  3. Thanks again I have changed password and am purely a chess playing, football, news, backgammon, weather, shopping, travel and bit of foruming on all green wot sites but now have updated with spywareblaster, mvps hosts etc so hoping can stay healthy and no more avira alerts! Just one more query if I may? On my replaced new old desktop I've subscribed to superantispyware for realtime protection and could extend that to this netbook but is spywareblaster etc just as effective or would they conflict, slow down too much used together?
  4. Thank you so much again SweetTech , what sort of infection was it? Was it one that would get my gmail password or coincidence? Still wondering how I got anything with using firefox, WOT, noscript etc, I feel super paranoid now as after years of no problems, had old desktop killed by something and my old laptop saved by Juliet in last 3 months but have been all different things. I sorted system restore clean up and new point but just to mention I'm guessing your instructions were for vista, I'm still on XP.
  5. Hi SweetTech, Thanks again 1. Any thoughts as to starbucks wifi, I have used Btopenzone at my local starbucks-not many people with computers in there but then recently I saw bad publicity re public wifi, so been careful since and avoided checking emails or anything secure. 2. 8. Hi SweetTech, Thank you for coming to the rescue . 1. First off are there signs of something nasty? I've probably only spent 60 hours online with this computer since I've had it and always used avira, zonealarm, noscript and WOT so wondering how it's got something. It didn't like Gmer, finally got a clear run and log but blue screened on me once and froze mid log second try, worked third try though froze afterwards. 2. 10. Sorry to be bothering you wonderful computer rescuers. I'm so hoping there is no problem(esp following my previous laptop and desktop issues) BUT my gmail account was hacked two days ago, luckily only to the extent of a spam advert email sent to all my contacts but was naturally advised to check for everything and my shiny nearly new netbook has come up with these detections with avira on full scan several times now(I find it strange as I'm using the old laptop with avira too browsing same weather, travel, backgammon and chess sites and no problems): The file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Si
