  1. 1. Maxthon - best IE shell available - I like its features better than Avant. 2. Firefox.
  2. Hello, Lee . To change the setting from °F to °C, open Weather Pulse. Click View > Settings, then make sure "General" is highlighted in gray. Then check "Use Metric Measurements" (last check box under "Options") >"Save", and click "OK" when asked "Would you like to refresh the weather with you new settings?". The temperature should now be shown in °C.
  3. What's up with Yahoo Anti-Spy and Bonzi Buddy? I installed the new Yahoo toolbar with the Anti-Spy program to see if it was effective in detecting spyware and could be recommended to several of my friends who, despite my pleas, refuse to implement even the basics of Internet security (anti-virus programs, firewall programs, malware programs such as the ubiquitous Ad-Aware and Spybot). I figured that even the most inexperienced of PC users could at least use this program to help manage their spyware infestations! This is the third time the Yahoo Anti-Spy program has detected Bonzi Buddy on my system. I installed the "New and Improved" Anti-Spy toolbar when it was first introduced and ran the Anti-Spy program, which detected Bonzi Buddy. I deleted the malware and went about my business, reasoning that everyone using Windows gets hit by crud eventually, although repeated scans with Ad-Aware, Spybot, and A2 had turned up nary a trace of our little purple friend. Several weeks later, I did a "clean install", and during the course of restoring my programs, I reinstalled the Yahoo toolbar. I ran the Anti-Spy program. Again Bonzi Buddy was detected, and again I hit "Remove", thinking that perhaps I had acquired BB when I installed iTunes (IIRC, I had read somewhere that at one point, iTunes came "bundled" with malware such as BB). Again, scans with Ad-Aware, Spybot, and A2 showed no signs of "infection" with Bonzi Buddy, only the Yahoo Anti-Spy scan showed "positive results". Today I read that Yahoo Anti-Spy was updated to Version 1.10, so I downloaded the update, hit "Scan", and...lo and behold...Bonzi Buddy!!! I am obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I am beginning to become suspicious of this Anti-Spy program. Every time I have installed or updated this program, it has come up positive for BB on the first scan after reinstallation or updating. As I stated, numerous scans with Ad-Aware, Spybot, and A2 have not shown BB anywhere to be found on my computer. Has anyone else who has used this program encountered this problem? I rarely use IE. I prefer to use Firefox, so I rarely use this (Yahoo Anti-Spy) program, since it is integrated into the toolbar which is only useable in IE. Here is a screen shot of Yahoo Anti-Spy detecting Bonzi Buddy on my system that AFAIK, is spyware/malware free: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/hlh...reenShot001.jpg Apologies for the large size of the picture, as I have no way to resize it. Picture too big for forum...click on link. Jacee
  4. Thanks, Ax! I've been looking for a weather program. I'll give Weather Pulse a try!
  5. I am also currently using AVG Free 7.0 Beta, and am quite happy so far. I am looking forward to the final release. Hopefully the final version will remain free (according to this quote from the Grisoft site, I am under the assumption that it will be.) http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/16/lng/us/tpl/v5
  6. Ad-Aware Se Build 1.05 released 09/17/2004 http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ (All mirror sites may not be updated yet, as I am posting this at 6 AM Central Time. Please check back with them if you wish to update to Build 1.05.)

  8. Hi, TeMerc! :welcome: Thanks for the link. I read the whole story in total disbelief-but it's sadly all too true-there ARE people out there so venal, avaricious, and immature that they would sink to this level and engage in such pathetic behavior. What a maroon! I'll be sure to email the link it to all my friends so they know NOT to use this program. Thanks for all you, Suzi, Eric, and the rest of the gang (you too, Radio!) at Spyware Warrior do to fight these slime balls. It's a never ending fight.
  9. I know this is an ongoing debate in many forums, but is SP2 really necessary if you utilize a good, regularly updated anti-virus/firewall (of your choice, another endless debate), plus anti-malware programs such as Ad-aware and Spybot? It seems to me, in my limited knowledge, that SP2 is designed in large part for those who don't understand (or just don't care !) about the necessity of using and keeping updated anti-virus/anti-malware/firewall programs. I am with Inprofile on this one, I think I'll 'give it a miss' and wait a while (maybe a long while) before/if ever installing SP2.
