  1. Well I must have found that info at Bleping Computer since I do go there just about everyday. So I can't claim the tip as original, which I didn't from the git go. Credit must have to go to poster Bouken Red.
  2. Interesting. Well I didn't find that jewl there. Honestly I don't remember where I came across it. I just had it in a folder with many other good things to remember that I have found over the years. I visit five computer forums everyday.
  3. plagiarize Umh. I had to look up that word in Websters.
  4. Hi there are some times that a computer may be infected with a malware and you will not able to use IE. You can try to access internet using Paint or calculator . Step1. Click Start --> Run --> and type mspaint or calc Step2. Once you open one of this program press F1 Step3. Place your mouse curser on the yellow question mark " left top corner" and rigtht click it and click "Jump to URL" Step4. Once you press that you will have the option to put an address bar. NOTE: You need to input all the address including "http://"
  5. even if you don't have Excel installed with this free viewer Here
  6. VideoDownloader (Firefox) If you're looking to download videos from Youtube, Google, Metacafe, iFilm, Dailymotion, and many more video sites, you will love this Firefox extension. It will allow you to easily save most embedded objects on a webpage (movies, mp3s, flash, QuickTime, etc). Once you download VideoDownloader, it sits as an icon on the status bar at the bottom of your Firefox window. When you're on a page with an embedded video, simply click the icon and download the video you are watching. It's that easy! https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390
  7. I don't know what happened but this one just worked for me. Sorry about that. CLick
  8. I keep seeing individuals with this problem. I myself had the problem and I found a simple fix. Somehow the files needed get removed or somehow polluted. At this link you can simply with one click restore the files needed. http://www.update.microsoft.com/micr...or=-2146827859

  10. This highly touted miracle program to supposidly fix all ills of your PC is not as advertised according to the following. I am not the author but I thought it was worth passing on as I believe what is spelled out here. If I am wrong please accept my apologies. ASSESMENT OF THE PROGRAM FINALLY FAST Best Answer - Chosen by Voters No, it's essentially a scam. You can find everything you need to fix all the crap they claim to fix for free elsewhere. Edit: Just tested it for myself. This site actually INSTALLS malware and spyware on your computer to give you a false positive. File name: C:\WINDOWS\system32\SysRc0fb.rra Malware Name: Win32:Rootkit-gen [Rtk] Malware Type: Rootkit It also installs a 'SystemRestore.dll' under the system32 folder which contains the same rootkit. Upon further research, which subjected me to said rootkit, so be grateful, the pc speedscan considers unused file extentions and old registry keys to be 'severe' errors. Typical scaremongering. I had 40 errors, most of which were probably true because I hadn't run CCleaner in a while. Their internet scanner has a 'score' based out of a percentage for certain settings on your wireless card which are actually optimized by default most of the time. Of course, I scored 0%. I'd love to know how they determine a percentile from "Automatic Discovery" or "Black Hole Detection" which aren't existing settings on my wireless card or router, so I'm not sure what they're supposed to be. TTL is another option, which has absolutely nothing to do with connection speed, rather it's a number assigned to a packet of information that determines how long it can be out on the internet before the computer holding it is instructed to just toss it. The only REAL options seem to be RWIN and MTU, which again I somehow scored 0% on even though they're set on the password protected router. PC Scan and Sweep is apparently part 2 of their CCleaner replacement. I had less than 20 mb worth of files that it considered 'clutter'. Strangely its recycle bin scanner doesn't seem to work, as it told me I have no clutter there, and I have well over 1000 MB of porn in my recycle bin at any given time. For some reason, Spyware Striker is the only program that asks me to restart. More to come after I reboot. (I am a computer tech, so I can probably fix any damage fairly quickly) Interesting. Spyware Striker just flat out doesn't seem to work, even with all my defenses down. It keeps claiming some files were missing, even though I made sure the rootkits were installed.
  11. Maybe a proxy server would allow that like hidemyass.com or go through the Google proxy http://www.google.com/xhtml
  12. If your system has failed to the point where you cannot access the Windows GUI either through booting normally or through safe mode, you may still have the chance to use the System Restore feature if you have it enabled, by running it from the command prompt. To do this: Restart your computer and press F8 after the POST screen to bring up the Windows XP boot menu. Choose 'boot in safe mode with command prompt.' If your system gets to the command prompt successfully, type '%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe' and then press enter. Follow the onscreen instructions to restore your computer to a previous saved point.
  13. Most retail stores have the system with the 5 games for $250. Yes that is true but try to find a store that has any. I never would have thought this system would be so much in demand. Ebay has quite a few new ones but they are going for 360.00 to 400.00. I suspect that individuals are buying them in hopes of selling them for a large profit when Xmas arrives. Oh well I will keep bidding at Ebay. Maybe I will get lucky.
  14. OK I am on a limited budget. Anyone have a suggestion as to where I can buy a Nintendo Wii with the five games for under $300.00?
