  1. So I just built myself a pretty decent system. I've been needing it for a while now. Everything works great, but I don't think it's at it's full potential. I also feel like I could have gotten some better/ more efficient parts but I was in a rush. Anyway, I want to OC this thing but honestly I don't know where to start. Is there anywhere I can look at the best BIOS configs for certain parts or what? I was able to set it up just fine but I'm lost from there. Here's what I have- Mobo- EVGA 780i SLI FTW http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813188027 Processor- Q9450 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115042 GFX- GeForce 9800 GX2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130338 RAM- OCZ 2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227298 OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227298 and a ZALMAN 9700 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835118020 plus HD and optical etc etc.... all cased in this monster- COOLER MASTER Stacker 830- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811119136 Here are some pics- I realize I have some horrible wire management skills, but oh well, most of them seemed way too short and were a pain to work with.
  2. Newegg just got some new CM Stacker 830's in, and I think I'm just about ready to order all of this junk. How's this look? CM Stacker 830 + 1000W PS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811119136 Q6600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115018 EVGA 780i http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813188024 Seagate Barracuda ST3500320AS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822148288 I'm also getting a Zalman and a few fans to stick in the CM. I'm torn as far as the ram goes. Is it silly of me to be so obsessed with the timings? Which of these should I buy, if any? OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227298 Timing 5-5-5-18 Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB (4 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Quad Kit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820220267 Timing 4-4-4-12*** OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227267 Timing 4-4-4-15 And as far as a video card goes, please post whatever would be best at this point ($250-$350ish range).
  3. Alright, simple enough. Few concerns- my hard drive is SCSI. Once I reformat is it sill going to recognize it? It should, since the setting are saved in BIOS correct? Just making sure. Second, Is there any possibility of viruses being passed over? Thanks.
  4. First three paragraphs explain the situation and steps I've taken, the last paragraph and last sentence is my issue and question. PC specs in profile. Alright. So my cousin stayed with us for 5 months and to make him feel welcome I let him use my backup computer. It's not so much a backup as it is my main desktop (second only to my laptop). It's a great PC with awesome hardware, so I'm not going to let it sit and rot. In 5 months he's filled this thing up with a bunch of adware and viruses. I cleared most of it with AdAware, AVG, SpyBot, and HJT, but some of it is reoccurring. Even though AdAware doesn't pick it up SpyBot does, and I don't really trust AVG all that much because in my experience Norton found things AVG didn't, in the past. After the tests I am still getting numerous SVChost.exe errors on Windows boot and a never ending wuauclt.exe error. Sometimes the error will say that the program has reached a "breaking point", whatever that means. In addition to that I have to reinstall my soundcard drivers and control panel every time I restart for whatever reason, or else it doesn't work. Plus many other errors and anomalies, such as numerous system folders in my program files and My Documents, all empty. I already backed up my most important files. This computer didn't come from any company, so there are no reformat discs, which is probably the reason I haven't ever done it in 4 years. All I have is my Windows XP disc. My question- How can I completely reformat/purge this computer and what's the best way to go about it?
  5. Yeah I know it's an old persons car, but that doesn't bother me at all. With all the features, it is a huge step up from my Nissan, plus those kind of luxery cars are very easy to pimp out. I'm planning on getting new rims, a new paint job, transferring my system, and new tint. Should look :filtered: when I'm done. Edit- I'm the one paying the gas. It's only I think 3 mpg less than my Nissan, I'm willing to pay it for comfort.
  6. Year/Make/Model: 1995 BUICK PARK AVENUE Body Style: SEDAN 4 DR Engine Type: 3.8L V6 SFI 12V I'm about to graduate high school, and my parents are looking at a new car for me. Currently I have a '94 Nissan Sentra 2 door, which is pretty much a go kart, but almost half the milegae of this Buick. The guy said it's only had 2 owners, him and his father. He says it's mostly his fathers car and since his father is an old man he's kept the car in great condition, and it really does look good. My thing is I just want a better LOOKING car than my Sentra, so I was going to go for it. What do you all think? Also, if anyone has a CarFax account could you please send me a report on it?
  7. I tried it at least 9 or 10 times. I'm on the phone with Best Buy right now, I have no idea why I got a 2 year extended warrenty from Best Buy when my speakers come with a 2 year warrenty.. Grr. Anyway I pretty much had to read every number on the reciept to the lady on the phone and now I have to wait a week for the box to come so I can ship the stuff to them . Then they will give me a voucher for the original cost plus tax, so I guess its pretty much like a gift card -_-. Oh well.... but ya the Logitech phone number didnt work for me, the Best Buy one did. Phone compony thing?
  8. "To obtain your RMA number, please contact our Customer Support Hotline at 702-269-3457. Canadian customers please dial 416-207-2782. Our Technical Support Agents can be reached Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST (Excluding Some Holidays)" The number doesnt work, at least I dont think it does. I called it and it said "you must dial the 3 digit area code when placing a local call" and then I dialed the number and added a 1 but it just gives me a busy signal. I hate tech support. Any of you have horrible tech support experiences? edit- I hate BELLSOUTH PHONE SERVICE. I gues its not tech supports fault.
  9. It was working fine, I kept adjusting the bass levels up and down and up and down to show off my sound card , but then I restarted, watched a movie, and now there is no bass!!! If it blew then it would have done it in the middle of a song when it was loud right? I hope the warrenty covers this =x
