  1. In that situation, if he was being real, I would have given him my chips. Unfortunately I don't have much money myself, but I do what I can.
  2. Nothing is causing "so much usage." The problem persists, some updated information: It's not just with Windows Media Player, it seems to happen when establishing new connections with certain things. It's happened some more when: I open the game "Americas Army."(every time) When I used the FilePlanet download manager to open a new download. Every time I use my keyboards buttons above the F keys.(doesn't make any sense) At this point I'm completely lost as to what it could be. I'm gonna try to see if it's possibly Norton Internet Security, but I don't see why it would be. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is an extremely inconvenient problem, and it prevents me from doing a lot of what I want to do with my computer. Thank you, again.
  3. iexplore.exe CPU usage when idle: 0%
  4. No, and as stated before: It's never had any problems, it's self built. I've never had a virus on any computer I've built and furthermore owned/used, I keep everything VERY clean/organized, to keep the computer healthy and erroneous less.
  5. I recently installed the Divx Codec bundle, I can't remember whether or not the problems started occuring before or after though. But could this be the problem?
  6. I play all of my music off my hard drive.
  7. Here's my PC Pitstop test results: http://www.pcpitstop.com/techexpress.asp?id=Q13NFW8H0MJSAEQJ Some quick info about my PC: It's never had any problems, it's self built. I've never had a virus on any computer I've built and furthermore owned/used, I keep everything VERY clean/organized, to keep the computer healthy and erroneous less. It's windows xp, 160gb hd, 2gigs 4200 ram, nvidia 7600gt 256mb, pentium d 3.4ghz processor. So just recently my computer has been randomly freezing at times. It's mostly been when I had music playing, specifically windows media player. ALTHOUGH: Now it has froze up once when I was using iTunes as an alternative, then once when neither one of those programs were opened, I think just AIM. [update] It's not just when I use WMP or playing music, it's doing it with other things now too even when music isn't even playing) I'm not able to do anything when it happens, but weirdly enough, I can hit the windows key and the start menu will pop up, and I can press the ctrl/alt/del button and the task manager will pop up, I can even see the cpu usage and everything moving when I hit it, BUT, everything I try is still unresponsive within the windows, and an hour glass is on the screen. I can switch in between those two windows, but cannot get them completely off the screen once opened, it has to be one or the other, and everything in the background(windows media player, aim, etc etc) is unresponsive as well. I appreciate any help, and I'll be more then happy to give any info that would be of use. P.S.- I've heard that Pentium D's can be slow/buggy sometimes, anyone know the scoop on that? [Edit] More information on Page #2!!
  8. I did some research: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navc...r%2c+video+dark It doesn't look like it's a video card problem, possibly a codec problem. However I can't seem to find a working solution. I gotta go to bed, I'll continue this tommorow night. Thanks for your two's input. Oh and apparently all the other people that i'm finding with the same kind of problems, it happens with every media player. With no specific video card, some of the systems are old ones.
  9. Hey guys, What I've tried: Installing Codec packs, such as ffdshow. Increasing brightness/contrast(etc) in windows media player, that doesnt work at all. Re-installing the Codec packs. This is a new built computer, some of you may remember me posting here a month ago because I was having some problems getting this new built built. It's been great since I've got it running, best computer I've ever built. No problems except for this. Here are my test results, don't know if they'll help or not with this problem but: http://www.pcpitstop.com/techexpress.asp?id=CSDKPW8H0MJSKLHC Thanks again. [EDIT] Ok so when I go into Control Panel -> Display -> Settings Tab -> Advanced -> GeForce 7800 GT Tab -> Color Correction and then mess with the gamma, move it even a little bit, then move it back to exactly where it was, everything is normal, fine, perfect. But as soon as I minimized the playing video and reopen it, or start another video, its back to the darkness...now I'm stuck again.
  10. Hey Kawika, long time no see, glad to still see you every once in a while!
  11. Thanks bonzai, I'll try this when I go in on Monday, I sure hope it works. If not, i'll post back, if it does work, i will praise you forever.
  12. Got a major problem, we have a HP DesignJet 800 Plotter in our CADD class, when you turn it on, or reset it, the error code 11:11 comes up on the display. Called HP, they said its probably the carriage, and to take all the ink heads out of the carriage, power off and then power up the plotter, put the heads back in, and it should be fine. Did it, and got the same error code. They said they can send out a technician to fix it, for 1500 dollars. So I'm asking you guys to help so we dont have to wait 3 years for the school to pay the money to get this fixed. Any help appreciated.
