Hi @Jo Ann
UAC settings are system wide, so it either has to be turned on or off for all programs.
With PC Matic, only the program's user interface requires this prompt from Windows when it is opened. The real-time security of SuperShield is always running and scheduled scans will run without any need for user approval. The PC Matic user interface requires UAC because that is where you can make changes to scans and SuperShield that will affect the security of the computer.

PC Matic includes SuperShield. It is a real time security component and will block any program on our blacklist and programs that are not on the "known good" white list. SuperShield should never allow malware to execute on your computer without the user's knowledge or permission.
There is more information about SuperShield here.
SuperShield is available for computers that run Windows and macOS 12 or later.
We also have an Android app that protects the device from malware in apps and files.
PC Matic is not available for iOS devices (iPhone/iPad). In fact, there are no true anti-virus apps for iOS devices.
Apple's own security settings prevent apps from accessing information on your device without your specific consent. Even AV apps would not be able to access the files of the device to perform scans.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Support team at https://www.pcmatic.com/help

Hi @Dino
You shouldn't have any issues with using a VPN with PC Matic. At the most, you may need to allow PC Matic access to the internet in the VPN settings.
We don't have a specific recommendation for any one VPN over another as we have not done testing.
Thanks for the question!

PC Matic can be installed on Macs running macOS 10.12 or later.I'm sorry, but we do not have an app for iOS (iPad/iPhone).
PC Matic requires a high-speed internet connection, so if your hotspot can provide upload speed of at least 1MB you shouldn't have any issues.

Please click the SuperShield icon in the bottom right corner of the computer screen beside the time and date. A small menu will appear.
Choose "Protection Level" then "Allow Java"
For your highest level of protection we recommend that you only use "Allow Java" mode when using a program or site that is being disabled by the default protection mode.
If that does not resolve the issue, please open a support ticket at https://www.pcmatic.com/help so we can take a closer look.

Please open your web browser, then copy and paste the links below, one at a time, into the address bar, then hit the Enter key:
defs.pcpitstop.com/3.0.15.0/pcpsfed.dat
defs.pcpitstop.com/3.0.15.0/pcpsfed-inc.dat
Follow the prompts to download each file to the computer, use the navigation tools to put the file somewhere that you can find it easily.
Once you have the files downloaded, go to Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Folder Options (or File Explorer Options in Windows 10) and click on the View tab, then move the dot to "Show hidden files and folders" and click on Apply.
Next, navigate to C:\Program Data\PCPitstopDat and move the downloaded pcpsfed.dat and pcpsfed-inc.dat file to inside of the datRTP folder that is at that location.
After you have both files inside the datRTP folder, reboot the computer and let us know if the issue is not resolved.
You can click the link below that corresponds to your version of Windows to view a video of the process.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

@armyguber
What is happening here is the PC Matic ad blocker is blocking AOL email due to the extensive ads that AOL displays in their inbox.
To whitelist AOL email, you will need to select either Temporarily or Permanently at the bottom of the blocking page.
