  1. Turns out it wasn't a windows problem but the Hard Drive was so corrupted that the guy who fixed it used another computer to try to reformat it and it shut that computer down too. Will never know what happened to it, but he replaced my 1TB hard drive with a small one and told me not to down load anything from the backups because we don't know if they are corrupted . Thank you for all your input. Much appreciated.
  2. Yes according to my other computer i's bootable but the problem computer lets it blink a couple of times and goes right back to the same black page. I looked at the laptopmag and I can't get to any of that.

  4. it just sits there saying preparing automatic repair and when I tried to do a diagnostics on it it just throws me out It's like the computer is possessed.
  5. Does anyone know how to get a computer with windows 10 out of the repair loop? I want to reformat the hard drive an install a clean copy of windows.
  6. Ever since that Win update on 6/12, my Lenovo 8.1 laptop has gone berserk: slowed down to a crawl; can't do Win Update; can't run, repair or reinstall either Avast or Win Defender AntiVirus even in Safe Mode! Can't even get it into Safe Mode *with Networking*, just regular Safe Mode only; but when not in Safe Mode, it connects to my router just fine. This was presented to me by someone on another group. Any thoughts?
  7. I was using an ethernet cable and it was annoying so out of shear frustration I found on another site to delete the network adapter, which under other conditions, I wold have been terrified to do. However, I was already unable to use it. I was planning on buying a usb network adapter, so I did what they suggested. I deleted the network adapter and rebooted and the system found it missing and reinstalled the adapter and the driver and it has worked flawlessly since. Neither Intell or MS thought of this fix. Sorry for the delay in getting back but thought it best to make sure it was rea
  8. Intel tried all sorts of things MS reinstalled windows 10 clean install It works and then it quits. Error message is saying that device isn't enabled and that windows does that when device isn't working properly. Someone I know that worked for years with electronic boards said it's rpobably a loose connection. I think down the road I'm just going to buy a usb one. I'm getting bad vibes from this computer. Like HP stopped making it. I love it except fo this.
  9. OK, I've tried everything you guys have so graciously suggested, used links etd. Called Intel to try to see if they could help since network adapter is an Intel product. They downloaded all the drivers. First it didn't seem to show up in Device manager and then yesterday it di until it stopped working. Do you think that it's a hardware problem?
  10. I got them downloaded from another computer to flash drive and installed on problem computer but still not showing up in device manager. What can I do to get them to work? I do appreciare you help.
  11. The HP website says there are no drivers available. Am I missing something? I'm real frustrated with this situation
